We explored the potential of a spirulina-derived compound, chlorin e6 trimethylester, to treat cancer cells and acne. After synthesizing the compound, we tested its effectiveness against Hela cancer cells and the acne bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes. Our results showed that higher concentrations of the compound significantly reduced cell survival and colony formation in both cancer and acne bacteria. This suggests that chlorin e6 could serve as a promising treatment option for both conditions through photodynamic therapy.

The taste and smell of Spirulina is quite unpleasant, reminiscent of a musty swamp. After a week of drinking it, I developed acne. My doctor explained this was a detox process and advised me to continue. Initially, I experienced some nasal and ocular discomfort. However, acne disappeared almost immediately after continuing the supplement. I've noticed it’s easier to get up in the morning, and I wake up without problems at all. If you're curious, please indicate, and I will update this review later with further results.

We explored how spirulina impacts mast cell-mediated allergic reactions. In our investigation, we found that spirulina significantly inhibited both systemic and local allergic responses in rats, completely blocking reactions induced by compound 48/80 when given in certain doses.

Additionally, we saw that spirulina reduced histamine levels and inhibited mast cell functions, which typically promote allergic reactions. These findings suggest that spirulina has a promising role in mitigating immediate-type allergies, both in laboratory settings and potentially for future practical applications.

Works wonders for my seasonal allergies. I used to rely on Zyrtec and nasal sprays, but now I just take Spirulina and a probiotic. While I tried reducing my Spirulina intake, I noticed a return of symptoms, but resuming my normal dosage quickly improved my condition. This stuff works for allergies!

We aimed to explore the potential of microalgae, particularly Spirulina, as a solution for iron-deficiency anemia. In a study with rats, different microalgal diets were tested to evaluate their effects on hemoglobin levels.

Our findings showed that rats fed high concentrations of Spirulina had the best hemoglobin regeneration, outperforming other groups. Notably, Spirulina provided more intestinal nanosized iron than other microalgal variations. This indicates that Spirulina could be an effective iron supplement for addressing anemia.

We explored the impact of Spirulina supplementation on cardiovascular health by analyzing data from randomized controlled trials. Our findings were based on a thorough review that included over a thousand participants across 20 studies.

The results showed that Spirulina effectively reduced levels of bad cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), and triglycerides (TG), while boosting levels of good cholesterol (HDL-C). Overall, incorporating Spirulina into our diets might be a helpful strategy for improving our lipid profiles and supporting heart health.

We examined how a polysaccharide from Spirulina platensis could alleviate constipation and impact gut health in mice. After treating diphenoxylate-induced constipation with varying doses of the polysaccharide, we observed improvements in defecation patterns and a boost in beneficial gut bacteria.

The treatment led to increased activity of acetyl cholinesterase and improved intestinal villus health. Importantly, the study suggests that this polysaccharide could have a role in constipation therapies, though results stem from animal research.

We explored the effects of spirulan, derived from blue-green algae, on blood clots through in vitro and in vivo tests. Our findings showed that spirulan exhibits notable antithrombotic properties, effectively breaking down fibrin and reducing the action of certain clotting proteins.

Tests indicated successful interactions with blood clots and demonstrated its potential to prevent clot formation in animal models. Overall, spirulan shows promise as a natural agent for tackling thrombosis-related conditions, suggesting it could play a significant role in future treatments.

We investigated how Spirulina might combat breast cancer using an animal model and a human cell line.

When given to animals, Spirulina increased antioxidants and reduced tumor growth.

It caused changes at the cellular level, promoting cancer cell death and impacting key growth pathways.

The study identified several compounds in Spirulina that target specific proteins, suggesting it could play a significant role in breast cancer treatment.

I've been addicted to Spirulina powder for 2-3 years, and my skin condition and bowel movements have certainly improved. This one has a sufficient capacity, and I don't find it overly addictive. I try to consume 1 teaspoon in my miso soup each day, which I believe is the best way to enjoy it.

This bio supplement is fantastic. I’ve ordered it multiple times, and my chronic fatigue has disappeared since starting it. I take it twice daily in powder form, as spirulina is better absorbed this way, though it does have a stronger smell of algae. For those sensitive to the taste, I’d recommend tablets instead, but the effect tends to be weaker, from my own experience.

This works for my seasonal allergies. I used to take Zyrtec and nasal sprays, but I now rely on Spirulina and a Probiotic instead. I usually take four capsules, and when I tried reducing it, sneezing, stuffiness, and headaches flared up. Returning to my usual dose improved things significantly within a day.
