Lysine aids cold adaptation
Cold exposure accelerates lysine catabolism to promote cold acclimation via remodeling hepatic histone crotonylation.
Direct examination of lysine impact
We focused on understanding how lysine, an essential amino acid, plays a role in cold acclimation. Our study involved twenty male participants who underwent three months of natural cold exposure, during which we measured cold-induced vasodilation (CIVD) and analyzed plasma amino acid levels.

After the three-month cold exposure, we observed that continuous exposure led to quicker CIVD responses and better finger temperature regulation. Notably, we found decreases in plasma levels of lysine and glycine in both humans and mice. Lysine emerged as the key amino acid showing significant changes that correlated strongly with improved CIVD outcomes.

To delve deeper, we conducted an experiment where mice were given lysine supplements during a week of cold exposure. These mice maintained higher core and surface temperatures, indicating a protective effect against cold. Additionally, lysine supplementation seemed to promote certain liver functions by increasing levels of specific histones and gene expressions related to metabolism.

Overall, our findings highlight lysine not only as a critical player in adapting to cold conditions but also suggest its potential importance for metabolic health during such challenges.

Life saver
As a cold sore sufferer, this product is essential. I buy both 250 count, 500mg and 100 count, 1000mg bottles. I take one 500mg tablet daily for prevention, and it drastically reduces my cold sore occurrences. If I sense one coming, I increase to 1000mg throughout the day. I've found this routine keeps cold sores at bay during stressful times, although I advise consulting a doctor for personalised dosage recommendations.

Effective for cold
I experience severe cold sores that spread across my entire lip and take more than 10 days to heal. After my friend suggested taking Lysine to reduce the duration of cold sores, I began using it regularly. It significantly lessens the size of the cold sores, and I no longer get them. I am incredibly pleased with the results!
