Successful Pantry Demousification
I saw evidence this past winter of mice in my pantry, but when I finally emptied it all out this summer it was an unspeakable horror. In addition to the generous use of stainless steel scrubbers to plug up or at least reduce the many holes for plumbing and electrical wire, I sanitized the pantry with bleach water and then sprayed this peppermint oil in water on every surface mixed at two caps per 12 oz. water. The following night, the mice sent a scout or two to investigate possible re-entry, and I fought back with more spray and cotton balls doused with 100% peppermint oil at exactly those points of evident interest. The mice made only one more scouting foray, which I answered by redoubling my cotton ball and spray assault. After that the mice put up the white flag and so far have made themselves scarce. I suspect they will make another attempt if I let my defenses down, so I plan to renew my cotton balls and spray every few weeks through this fall and into the winter to demonstrate my resolve.
