Saccharomyces boulardii reduces diarrhoea risk
We dove into the effectiveness of saccharomyces boulardii in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea through a meta-analysis of 21 randomized controlled trials involving nearly 4,800 participants.

Our findings showed that this probiotic significantly reduced the incidence of diarrhoea from 18.7% to 8.5%. Notably, in children, the risk dropped from 20.9% to 8.8%, while in adults, it decreased from 17.4% to 8.2%.

While S. boulardii also showed some benefit against Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, this effect was primarily noted in children. Overall, we confirmed that saccharomyces boulardii offers a viable preventive measure against diarrhoea linked to antibiotic treatments.

Saccharomyces boulardii shows limited effects
We searched various databases and analyzed 29 randomized controlled trials to probe the effectiveness of Saccharomyces boulardii in treating acute gastroenteritis in children.

Our findings show that while S boulardii may help shorten the duration of diarrhea and reduce hospital stays, the evidence supporting these benefits remains low to very low in quality.

Overall, it appears that S boulardii could have some positive effects on diarrhea outcomes, but more robust studies are needed to confirm its true efficacy.

Saccharomyces boulardii effectively controls diarrhoea
We assessed how effective saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 is in helping adults with diarrhoea based on real-world data from Indian patients. In our study, we looked at records from over 30,000 patients and found that 77.8% of those treated with the probiotic reported no further diarrhoea. In contrast, only 15.8% of those receiving other treatments experienced similar outcomes. This suggests that saccharomyces boulardii was notably more effective than traditional anti-diarrhoeal therapies, even when antibiotics were used alongside it.

Gut healing success

Great for restoring gut health after taking powerful hospital IV antibiotics, which resulted in persistent diarrhoea and poor digestion. My doctor advised a 6 to 12-month course to repopulate my gut with beneficial bacteria. It began to work within days, normalising my bathroom visits. It took about a year before I could stop taking the pills entirely, and now I don’t need them any longer. I keep a bottle ready for anyone in my household who might require antibiotics.

Saccharomyces boulardii helps diarrhoea
We explored how the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii can impact antibiotic-associated diarrhoea caused by gut dysbiosis. The findings highlight that this strain is uniquely resistant to antibiotics, making it a useful ally in restoring gut balance. Research shows that timely intake of S. boulardii can effectively prevent or alleviate the diarrhoea linked with antibiotic use. Overall, this suggests that incorporating this probiotic may help in returning the gut microbiota to a healthier state after antibiotic treatment.

We explored the benefits of Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745, a yeast probiotic, in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea and pediatric gastroenteritis. The review highlights its impressive qualities, including resistance to antibiotic genes and stability across various pH levels. We observed that when used preventively, this probiotic significantly lowered the risk of diarrhea and helped restore gut health. It was also found to reduce diarrhea duration and hospital stays in children. Overall, Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 is safe and effective, making it a reliable option for managing acute diarrhea.

Saccharomyces boulardii aids diarrhoea recovery
We investigated how Saccharomyces boulardii, a type of yeast probiotic, helps children with acute diarrhoea in outpatient settings.

Our study looked at medical records from 160 children treated with conventional treatments and compared those who received the probiotic.

We found that those who took Saccharomyces boulardii had diarrhoea for a shorter time—3 days versus 4 days—and experienced fewer stools after treatment. Their overall health improved significantly, showing weight gain compared to those without the probiotic.

This supports the positive impact of Saccharomyces boulardii in managing acute diarrhoea in children, especially those who are dehydrated.

Saccharomyces boulardii reduces inflammation
We investigated how Saccharomyces boulardii (Sb) could help treat diarrhoea caused by Blastocystis spp. In our study, rats infected with this parasite were treated with different methods, including Sb alone and alongside metronidazole.

We observed that live Sb significantly improved the colonic health of the rats by reducing inflammation markers. When combined with metronidazole, the results were even more promising, with complete elimination of the parasite from the rats’ systems. This suggests that Sb can be an effective treatment option for diarrhoea associated with Blastocystis infection.

Effectiveness of S. boulardii on AAD
We conducted a thorough review of the best available research on probiotics for preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea (AAD). This included analyzing 37 clinical studies, of which 33 were randomized controlled trials.

Our findings revealed that Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 is the most studied probiotic and demonstrates strong evidence for preventing AAD in both adults and children. Meanwhile, some other probiotics showed limited effectiveness. Ultimately, effectiveness varies by strain, making it crucial to choose a well-supported probiotic to safeguard against AAD.
