Spirulina improves infant respiratory health
We explored the effects of spirulina supplementation on the health of Zambian infants. In a randomized trial, 501 infants were given either soya-maize porridge alone or the same porridge with spirulina for a year.

While physical growth was similar in both groups, those who received spirulina experienced a notable decrease in coughing and showed improved motor milestones, such as walking independently.

This suggests that spirulina can play a role in reducing respiratory issues and enhancing motor development in infants, making it a promising addition to complementary feeding.

I’ve consumed spirulina throughout winter, and it greatly boosts the body’s resistance to the common cold. I trust the Now Foods brand and have used it for two autumn-winter seasons. The tablets are large and have a pleasant marine aroma.

Immune boost
After taking a course of Spirulina, I can confidently say it provides such a boost of energy and vitality that you’ll feel ready for anything. Importantly, it has significantly increased my immunity following winter; in March, while everyone around me suffered from various ailments, I managed to avoid infection and bravely withstood the common cold outbreak. Normally, I catch a cold from just one sneeze, and if it’s a bit chilly, sinusitis follows. Remarkably, I even got my feet wet a couple of times during the spring floods, yet I evaded all colds.
