Seems to be a great anti inflammatory supplement!
Now Foods Curcumin Extract 95% 700mg, 60 Capsules I'm allergic to aspirin. After a life long use for migraines (from early childhood) all the NSAIDS now give me Hives. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever, but isn't really an anti inflammatory. This is one of the recommended natural supplements for pain & inflammation, but since I have allergies to many natural herbs etc. I wasn't counting on good results. 3 weeks & my joints feel so much less painful! I've had no allergic reactions and my Dr. said turmeric is a good thing to take so I'm sticking with it! I have had a couple of migraines, but the joint pain has reduced greatly. I like it so much I just ordered this as a "gift" for a friend. Added 7/29/14: I've now been taking Turmeric supplements regularly for over 3 years, and have very little joint pain (I'm a very senior citizen:). I've been alternating brands to get my chosen amounts depending on which brand & size is least expensive at the moment. Most of my digestive problems have cleared up. One of the only cautions I've seen about turmeric is found in a pdf at nccam.nih.gov/. It cautions those with gall bladder problems about this supplement, but I hadn't read that until recently & am glad I didn't notice that one:) I have many friends with health & health insurance concerns so successful experiences concerning supplements need to be shared these days! I've tried various dosages & for me a 600 to 720 mg at night & a 300 mg in the AM works well (approximately 1000 daily). If I take much higher doses I notice nosebleeds. Medical facilities now list Turmeric as an anti inflammatory that does interfere with coagulation just as NSAIDs do. So, if you are also taking aspirin, ibuprofen or warfarin type med. etc. you do want to inform your Dr. & dose accordingly. It is for me one of the only & best solutions around.
