Elderberry is often touted as beneficial, and despite initial scepticism, I found it very effective. My allergies worsened, and I decided to address the basics by purchasing it. Remarkably, the number of rashes I experienced significantly decreased, which I attribute to the elderberry. I returned for another purchase and felt compelled to share my experience.

Reliable virus protection! All Elderberry preparations are essential. I order various brands, each with its unique charm and composition. Elderberry is particularly valuable for its nutrients; the fruits contain ascorbic acid, anthocyanins, and rutin, which possess anti-inflammatory properties. It aids upper respiratory issues and has proven invaluable during these times of rampant viruses. This product is always in my medicine cabinet; at the first sign of a sore throat, it prevents illness. I always carry the spray and lozenges with me. Thanks to the manufacturers for such quality protection. It's hard not to recommend something that continually saves me. Wishing health to everyone who reads my review!

Great Elder! It assists at the first sign of a cold. My daughter typically suffers with a week-long fever and cough. This time, at 37.4, I promptly gave her 2 elderberry tablets. By evening, her temperature rose to 38.6, so I gave her another tablet. The next day, it was down to 37.2. I continued the elderberry, and by day three, she had fully recovered from the whooping cough. I’m convinced it helped immensely. I've ordered more. Highly recommended!

We assessed the prevalence and patterns of herbal supplement use among patients with autoimmune skin diseases, specifically dermatomyositis (DM) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). In this study, we found that the rate of herbal supplement use was notably prevalent—about 32% of the surveyed patients reported using them.

Among these patients, we observed a trend where younger individuals and those from Hispanic/Latino backgrounds were more likely to try herbal treatments. However, when we honed in on the effects of elderberry, we noticed a concerning pattern. Specifically, about 62% of DM patients and 50% of CLE patients experienced a disease onset or exacerbation after using elderberry, suggesting a potential risk associated with this supplement.

As we examined these findings, it became clear that while many patients gravitate towards herbal remedies, supplements like elderberry may carry risks, particularly regarding immune system regulation in autoimmune disorders. This reinforces the need for healthcare providers to actively engage with patients about their use of such treatments.

Superproduct (price / quality) For centuries, elderberry juice has been utilised as a remedy due to its antioxidant properties, which can lower cholesterol, improve vision, bolster the immune system, enhance heart function, and provide protection against coughs, colds, flu, bacterial infections, and even tonsillitis. Recent studies have shown that individuals suffering from the flu who consumed elderberry juice experienced less severe symptoms and a quicker recovery than those who didn't. Elderberries contain anthocyanidins, tannins, amino acids, carotenoids, flavonoids, sugar, rutin, viburnic acid, and a high concentration of vitamins A, B, and C. Research in Israel at the Hadassah Oncology Centre has demonstrated that elderberry stimulates the immune system, contributing positively to treatments for conditions such as cancer and AIDS.

We explored the impact of an anthocyanin-rich black elderberry extract on high cholesterol by conducting a study with apoE(-/-) mice, which are a common model for high cholesterol and HDL dysfunction. Over a period of six weeks, these mice received a diet supplemented with this black elderberry extract while a control group maintained a normal diet.

Our findings were quite promising. Although we didn’t see significant differences in overall serum lipids after six weeks, we did notice improvements in several key markers associated with HDL function. The BEE-fed mice exhibited higher levels of beneficial paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activity, which is important for heart health, as well as reductions in liver aspartate transaminase and fasting glucose levels.

Furthermore, the BEE-fed mice had significantly lower levels of a chemokine linked to inflammation, which is beneficial as chronic inflammation can negatively impact cholesterol levels. Most notably, we found reduced total cholesterol levels in the aorta of the elderberry-fed mice, suggesting a slowdown in the progression of atherosclerosis. Overall, this study indicates that black elderberry could potentially help improve HDL function and support the management of high cholesterol as part of a dietary approach.

At least the elderberry has assisted me; my family had coronavirus, but I took elderberry while the others did not. I’m uncertain if it had an effect, but I noticed my chronic cough, which usually lingers, improved rapidly. If the elderberry contributed to this, I will certainly purchase it again for my cough in spring.

We delved into how elderberry, specifically from the black elderberry fruit, impacts the flu virus, H1N1. Using an innovative technique called Direct Analysis in Real Time Mass Spectrometry (DART TOF-MS), we were able to identify the powerful anti-viral properties of elderberry extract without the need for complicated processes like separation or derivatization.

Our findings revealed that elderberry extract does indeed inhibit H1N1 infection in a lab setting, with an effective concentration (IC50) of 252 micrograms per milliliter. Interestingly, we discovered that flavonoids present in the elderberry bind to H1N1 virions—essentially blocking their ability to infect host cells.

Among the compounds, two key flavonoids emerged: the 5,7,3',4'-tetra-O-methylquercetin and dihydromyricetin. These compounds not only bound to the virus but also effectively prevented infection. Notably, the tetra-O-methylquercetin demonstrated an impressive IC50 of just 0.13 micrograms per milliliter, which is comparable to well-known antiviral medications like Oseltamivir and Amantadine.

In summary, elderberry shows promising potential as a natural remedy against the H1N1 flu, offering a fascinating area for further research and utilization in flu prevention strategies.

Very effective drug! I take elderberry with sodium ascorbate from NutriBiotic for immunity. The combination of elderberry and ascorbic acid offers a powerful antiviral effect. We started using it on a friend's recommendation and have been consistently impressed! I combine this with other treatments during acute respiratory infections—it always helps. We took it during flu epidemics—nobody in the family got sick. At the onset of our respiratory viral infections, when I felt aches throughout my body, we recovered completely in 2-3 days. Both I (44) and my son (12) found this combination indispensable.

Highly recommended! This isn't my usual brand, but I had to try it due to the shortage of elderberry. I woke up with the flu on Tuesday and, although I do not advise it, I took three of these a day from Tuesday until today, without any other medication apart from some cough drops for my sore throat. Remarkably, I feel 90% better today! I was truly shocked and will continue at one a day, which I love, indefinitely. I never took them on an empty stomach and had no stomach pains afterwards.

In our recent study, we investigated the potential benefits of a natural preparation called Inflaminat, which includes black elderberry, violet herb, and calendula flowers, on cough and other symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Conducted over six months, this randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial involved 60 patients with moderate COPD.

We observed that those taking Inflaminat experienced a significant improvement in their symptoms as measured by the Breathlessness, Cough, and Sputum Scale. Specifically, their scores decreased from an average of 3.0 to 1.9, indicating less breathlessness and fewer cough symptoms. Additionally, their lung function improved, with a marked increase in the FEV1 measurement from 66% to 73%.

Importantly, participants in the placebo group showed no similar improvements, reinforcing the effectiveness of the natural remedy. Furthermore, we found no side effects associated with the preparation. Our findings suggest that herbal remedies, particularly those containing elderberry, could be valuable in alleviating cough and improving respiratory function in patients suffering from COPD.

This study implemented a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design to explore whether elderberry supplements could improve respiratory health for air travelers. We observed 312 economy class passengers traveling from Australia to an overseas destination, aiming to see if a standardized elderberry extract could lessen the duration and severity of cold episodes.

Participants recorded their cold symptoms in daily diaries and completed surveys measuring their upper respiratory conditions and overall quality of life at various points before and after travel. While both groups experienced cold episodes, it was notable that those taking the placebo had a longer duration of symptoms and reported feeling worse overall. Specifically, the placebo group faced cold symptoms for an average of 117 days, compared to just 57 days for those receiving elderberry, and their average symptom scores were substantially higher.

Our analysis points to the potential benefits of elderberry in reducing both the duration and severity of cold symptoms for people traveling by air. However, additional research is necessary to confirm these findings and delve deeper into the possible effects of elderberry on both physical and mental health.

We explored whether elderberry could help reduce the duration and severity of colds for economy class passengers traveling internationally. In a well-structured randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 312 participants, we looked at how a standardized elderberry extract affected respiratory health during air travel.

Participants tracked their cold episodes, duration, and symptoms in daily diaries, using a scoring method to quantify their experiences. They also completed surveys about their upper respiratory symptoms and quality of life at different points: before traveling and four days post-travel.

While we noted that the group taking the placebo experienced more cold episodes, the difference wasn't statistically significant. However, those taking elderberry had a significantly shorter duration of cold days and a lower average symptom score overall, suggesting that elderberry may significantly lessen the impact of colds during air travel.

Further research is essential to validate our findings and to better understand the broader health benefits of elderberry, both physical and mental.
