Promising results for fish oil
Dietary fish oil as a photoprotective agent in hydroa vacciniforme.
Relevance score: moderate
We investigated the impact of dietary fish oil, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, on hydroa vacciniforme, a challenging photosensitivity disorder. Three boys with the condition took five capsules of MaxEPA daily for three months. During follow-up tests, we observed that all boys had lower sensitivity to UVA light, indicating a positive response to the treatment.

While one child demonstrated a significant improvement, another showed mild progress, and the third did not improve but later responded well to another medication. Overall, fish oil may reduce UV sensitivity and improve rash outcomes for some patients.

Fish oil emulsion improves rash
Use of a fish oil-based lipid emulsion to treat essential fatty acid deficiency in a soy allergic patient receiving parenteral nutrition.
Relevance assessed as significant
We explored how a parenteral fish oil emulsion can help treat essential fatty acid deficiency (EFAD) in a soy-allergic teen who had gastrointestinal issues after a bone marrow transplant. Initially, he showed a rash and an unbalanced plasma ratio indicating EFAD due to fat-free nutrition.

After starting the fish oil treatment, his rash disappeared within 10 days, and his plasma levels improved significantly. This result highlights that fish oil can be a safe fat source for patients who can't use traditional lipid emulsions, effectively treating the rash linked to EFAD.

DHA affects infant rash duration
Prenatal docosahexaenoic acid supplementation and infant morbidity: randomized controlled trial.
Impact of DHA on health
We investigated whether maternal supplementation with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) can impact infant health outcomes. Through a rigorous double-blind study in Mexico, pregnant women took 400 mg of DHA or a placebo.

We found that while DHA helped reduce the duration of illnesses like cough and fever in infants, it did lead to a 22% longer duration of rash at one month old. While DHA showed benefits in other areas, its impact on rash was notably negative.

Not suitable for me
I decided to care for my health and bought this omega. Initially, I took it due to the price, but three days in, rashes appeared on my face. I continued taking it but later associated it with the omega. A week later, the rashes worsened, and I experienced discomfort in my stomach. I stopped and felt better, but perhaps this was an individual intolerance as California Gold Nutrition caused no side effects for me.

I like this product not only for its price but also for its effects. I have noticed fewer rashes on my face, which is a bonus!

Rash reappeared
Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. The vitamins arrived quickly, but after five days of taking omega, I developed a rash and itching. I ceased taking the vitamins. Two weeks later, I tried the omega again, but the rash returned. Sadly, it didn't suit me.
