Vitamin E alleviates leg cramps
Leg cramps (systremma0 and "restless legs" syndrome. Response to vitamin E (tocopherol).
High relevance due to findings
We investigated the impact of vitamin E on treating frequent and severe nocturnal leg cramps. Patients received 100 I.U. of d, alpha-tocopheryl acetate three times daily before meals.

Remarkably, nearly all participants reported prompt relief from their symptoms. This group included 24 patients with leg cramps and a couple with "restless legs" syndrome.

Given that nocturnal leg cramps can be distressing and treatments are often unsatisfactory, these findings are particularly noteworthy.

Vitamin E effective for leg cramps
Dialysis leg cramps. Efficacy of quinine versus vitamin E.
Relevant for dialysis treatment
We explored the effects of vitamin E on leg cramps through a controlled double-blind study involving 40 dialysis patients.

After a two-month placebo washout, participants were split into two groups receiving either quinine or vitamin E.

Both treatments significantly reduced the number of leg cramps. With average monthly cramps dropping to around 3.3 for vitamin E and 3.6 for quinine, the findings indicate both options were effective.

However, since quinine has potential side effects, vitamin E is recommended as the first-line treatment for leg cramps in this population.

Vitamin E shows limited effectiveness
Are there alternatives to the use of quinine to treat nocturnal leg cramps?
Relevant for alternative therapies
We examined the effectiveness of various treatments for leg cramps, focusing particularly on vitamin E. While quinine has long been a go-to option, its use has significantly decreased due to safety concerns and mixed results in studies. Our review highlighted that although vitamin E might show potential benefits for leg cramps in patients on dialysis, the evidence is not robust across all populations. Therefore, we should consider other medications, like verapamil or gabapentin, before reverting to quinine.

Pain relief achieved
I suffer from intense nerve pain and cramps in my legs, often requiring emergency care. After years of prescription medication that made me feel drugged, I turned to alpha-lipoic acid on my husband's recommendation. This supplement has worked wonderfully. It's been weeks without painful night cramps, and any cramps I do have are no longer the severe ones I used to experience. Very pleased with the results.

Neuropathy relief
It truly feels like magic! After reading various customer feedback, I decided to try this supplement, and I was astounded when my fingernails strengthened after a few days of taking just one capsule daily. I previously struggled with weak, peeling nails. However, now my neuropathy and foot pain have vanished, and my nighttime leg cramps are no longer an issue!

Helping with cramps
I purchased this item to aid with leg cramps since I take statins and frequently woke at night due to them. Although I've only been using it for a week, I believe it is helping. Last night, I did not wake up with any leg cramps. I will continue with this bottle and provide another review later.

Leg cramps treatment comparison
Calcium and magnesium status in pregnant women. A comparison between treatment with calcium and vitamin C in pregnant women with leg cramps.
Effectiveness of treatments unclear
We explored the effects of vitamin C on leg cramps in a group of 60 pregnant women through a double-blind trial. Participants received either calcium or vitamin C (1 g twice daily) as treatment. Our observations revealed that there was no significant difference in clinical improvement between the two treatment groups.

Notably, 14 patients experienced complete relief from symptoms, while 27 reported significant improvement regardless of which treatment they received. Unfortunately, 17 participants found their symptoms unchanged, and only two noticed an increase in leg cramps during the treatment period.

Throughout the study, we measured serum levels of total and ionized calcium, total magnesium, and albumin, but these parameters did not show significant changes in either treatment group. We also didn’t identify any biochemical differences when comparing the effectiveness of vitamin C and calcium for alleviating cramps.

Ultimately, our findings suggest that vitamin C may not be an effective solution for leg cramps in pregnant women, as both treatments yielded similar results with minimal biochemical changes.

Effective for legs
Good, I purchased this on the recommendation of someone on Instagram. I believe it is effective against leg cramps as well as edema. In the morning, my legs feel lighter than usual. I wondered about this and monitored it for a few days; however, I hadn’t altered anything in my routine, so I think it’s due to taking one capsule of this at night. I will continue taking it and will repurchase it.
