We examined the levels of selenium and key vitamins in patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) without additional health issues. Our study, involving 146 subjects split into different OSA severity levels, aimed to understand how these antioxidants might play a role in OSA's impact on health.
Interestingly, we found that higher concentrations of selenium and vitamin A appeared to bolster the body’s defense against OSA. Although our findings suggest potential benefits, it's important to note that antioxidants alone should not replace conventional treatments for OSA.

Works clearly eliminates the lack of selenium; I began to sleep better, experience fewer mood swings, and have more energy in the morning. My tests have shown improvement.
Sleep apnea is a common and potentially serious sleep disorder characterized by irregular breathing patterns during sleep. Individuals with sleep apnea experience episodes of disrupted or paused breathing, which can occur multiple times throughout the night. These interruptions can last a few seconds to several minutes and often lead to fragmented sleep, which may result in excessive daytime sleepiness, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. The condition can be broadly classified into two main types: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), caused by a blockage of the upper airway, and central sleep apnea (CSA), which occurs when the brain fails to send the proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.
The diagnosis of sleep apnea typically involves a sleep study, either conducted in a sleep clinic or at home using portable monitoring devices. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the condition but may include lifestyle changes, the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, oral appliances, or even surgery in some cases. If left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to various health complications, including cardiovascular issues, metabolic disorders, and impaired cognitive function, making it essential to consult a healthcare professional if you suspect you or someone you know may be affected by this disorder.
Selenium is a powerful and widely used open-source tool designed for automating web applications for testing purposes. It enables developers and testers to write code in various programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, and Ruby to simulate user interactions with a web browser. Selenium's flexibility allows users to create complex test scenarios that mimic real-world user behaviors, making it an essential tool for ensuring web application functionality and performance.
In addition to its core functionalities, Selenium consists of several components, including Selenium WebDriver for automating browsers, Selenium Grid for running tests across multiple machines and environments in parallel, and Selenium IDE for record-and-playback test creation. Its compatibility with multiple browser types—such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge—makes it a versatile choice for automated testing, catering to a wide range of projects and team needs. For anyone involved in web development or quality assurance, understanding and utilizing Selenium can significantly improve testing efficiency and reliability.
Based on user reviews, the time it takes to see results from taking selenium for sleep issues can vary. Some users have reported improvements in their sleep quality as early as a few days after starting the supplement. For instance, one user mentioned noticeable changes by the third day, experiencing increased energy and better sleep (Read Review). However, others have suggested a more extended period may be necessary; one review notes that it took a full three months before they no longer woke up at night (Read Review).
Overall, feedback indicates that while some users may see results quickly—within a few days to weeks—others recommend allowing a month or longer to fully gauge the supplement's effects. One user said they took the supplement for a couple of weeks before experiencing significant improvements (Read Review). As always, individual experiences may vary, so it's essential to monitor your own body's response when using selenium for sleep-related issues.
This supplement is not outrightly supported as a primary treatment for sleep apnea, but certain components, specifically antioxidants like selenium and vitamin A, show potential benefits in patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). A study involving 146 participants identified a correlation between higher levels of these antioxidants and improved bodily defense mechanisms against the impacts of OSA. While the findings suggest that these vitamins may help bolster health in OSA patients, it's crucial to emphasize that antioxidants should not replace standard treatments for the condition [1]. Thus, if you're considering incorporating these supplements into your routine for sleep apnea, it might be best to consult with a healthcare provider to ensure they complement established treatment plans.
Based on user reviews, many individuals have reported significant improvements in their symptoms after taking selenium, particularly for sleep-related issues. For instance, one user noted a decrease in chronic fatigue, improved sleep quality, and relief from discomfort in the throat after starting selenium for their thyroid condition (Read Review). Another user found that taking selenium helped to alleviate insomnia, leading to better sleep and relaxation when taken before bedtime (Read Review). Moreover, several reviews detail enhanced sleep depth and quality, with one individual mentioning a transition from broken sleep to a profound, uninterrupted slumber (Read Review).
Additionally, some reviewers experienced other benefits, such as increased energy levels, improved mood, and a stronger immune system after taking selenium. These positive effects were often observed within a few days to weeks of starting the supplement, although some individuals advised patience, noting that results could take longer to manifest—in one case, up to three months to fully relieve nighttime awakenings (Read Review). While the anecdotes highlight the potential benefits of selenium supplementation, it's essential to remember that individual experiences can vary widely and results may depend on personal health factors and dosage.
Based on user reviews, many have reported positive experiences when combining selenium with other supplements to manage symptoms associated with sleep apnea and general sleep quality. For example, one reviewer mentioned that taking selenium alongside magnesium before bed has resulted in restful, uninterrupted sleep through the night (Read Review). Others have suggested that using selenium in conjunction with other micronutrients, such as iodine, is beneficial for overall thyroid health and sleep patterns (Read Review; Read Review).
However, while many users emphasize the benefits of combining these supplements, there are cautionary notes regarding potential side effects. One user experienced stomach issues when combining supplements and advised monitoring one’s body response closely. It highlights the importance of personalizing supplementation practices and being mindful of any adverse reactions (Read Review; Read Review). Overall, while combining selenium with other supplements seems promising for improving sleep quality, individual experiences and possible side effects should be closely monitored.
Users have reported varying experiences with selenium as a remedy for sleep apnea, highlighting its potential effectiveness when taken in appropriate doses. Many users mention taking selenium supplements along with their prescribed medications, often under the guidance of healthcare professionals. For instance, one user, who has thyroid issues, finds that taking selenium twice a day—once in the morning and once at night—has significantly improved their sleep quality Read Review. Another user noted positive results when taking selenium approximately two hours before bedtime, suggesting this timing may enhance its benefits for sleep Read Review.
In general, users highlight the importance of a consistent daily intake and sometimes combining selenium with other supplements, like magnesium, to optimize sleep quality Read Review. However, individuals have also cautioned about potential side effects if doses are not carefully managed. One user experienced noticeable improvements only after two weeks, emphasizing patience and caution in dosage as crucial factors for effectiveness Read Review. Overall, while selenium appears to help some users with sleep apnea, the right dosage may vary, and professional guidance is often recommended.

I recommend selenium! It normalises thyroid and pancreas functions, aids in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, and reduces overall fatigue. Lack of selenium clearly impacts thyroid performance, which in turn affects hormones. Adhering to the principle of doing no harm, I've been taking one capsule without excessive reliance. Night sweats have ceased, and my sleep has become more profound and longer. I will continue to take it.

It has greatly enhanced my mood and energy levels and even improved my sleep. The only downside is that it upsets my stomach, so during the day, I take half a pill instead.
