Lachnum polysaccharides promote ulcer healing
We examined the effects of Lachnum-derived polysaccharides, specifically a modified compound known as LAG, on gastric ulcers in mice. The study involved treating mice with acute ulcers using different doses of LAG and another polysaccharide, LEP2a.

Our findings revealed that both compounds significantly reduced gastric mucosal damage and inflammation. LAG showed greater effectiveness, improving antioxidant levels and reducing harmful inflammatory markers. Essentially, these polysaccharides help protect the stomach lining by tackling oxidative stress and inflammation.

KW-110 reduces NSAID-induced ulcers
We examined the impact of N-acetyl-L-glutamine aluminum complex (KW-110) on gastric ulcers exacerbated by common painkillers, like aspirin and indomethacin, in rats. After inducing ulcers, we found that while certain NSAIDs worsened the situation, KW-110 significantly reduced their damaging effects. This treatment not only helped in healing the ulcers but also prevented further gastric lesions caused by these medications. Importantly, KW-110 did not alter the pain-relieving effects of the NSAIDs used.

We aimed to explore if alanyl-glutamine (AG), a special dipeptide known to support gut healing, can help treat ulcers caused by indomethacin in rats. In our study, we divided the rats into five groups to observe the effects of AG, with some receiving additional treatments.

The results revealed that AG helped raise the pH of gastric juice, much like pantoprazole did. However, while AG showed some beneficial effects, it was less effective in groups where dexamethasone was administered beforehand. Thus, the overall impact of AG, though promising, involves complexities that need further investigation.

We explored how L-arginine, a precursor for nitric oxide, influences gastric health and ulcer healing. In this study on rats, L-arginine reduced acute gastric lesions caused by substances like 100% ethanol. It also improved blood flow, but interestingly, other related amino acids, including L-glutamine, did not show a significant impact on ulcers.

We discovered that L-arginine accelerated the healing process and promoted new blood vessel formation around ulcers, indicating its beneficial effects. However, L-glutamine treatment did not deliver notable results, suggesting that other factors may play a larger role in ulcer management.

Abomasum peptides aid stomach healing
We investigated how peptides from cattle abomasum help heal stomach damage in rats caused by aspirin. Over 22 days, we divided Wistar rats into groups—some received a control treatment while others got a native or heated extract of the abomasum after inducing mucosal damage.

Our findings revealed that both extracts significantly improved healing, reduced harmful substances in the blood, and normalized immune cell counts, indicating recovery. Rats treated with these extracts showed healthier stomach lining, with no signs of irritation. Overall, the abomasum extracts demonstrated promising antiulcer effects.

Glutamine shows gastric protective effects
We explored the protective effects of glutamine on stomach health amidst H. pylori infections in Mongolian gerbils. For three months, we provided a diet rich in glutamine or marzulene, another protective substance.

The results were promising; both glutamine and marzulene significantly reduced harmful changes in the stomach lining. They helped diminish ammonia buildup, a toxin related to ulcers, thereby enhancing cell survival and reducing inflammation.

Our findings suggest that glutamine could serve as a preventative treatment for those at risk of H. pylori-related gastric conditions.

Early feeding with glutamine prevents ulcers
We explored the effects of early enteral feeding combined with glutamine supplementation in 12 major burn patients. By utilizing gastroscopic and gastric juice analysis, we discovered that this method was both safe and effective in preventing stress ulcers. Remarkably, no stress ulcers appeared after multiple excision surgeries. Additionally, around 86 percent of the observed gastric abnormalities resolved within two weeks. Overall, early feeding along with glutamine appears to significantly reduce the risk of stress ulcers in patients with severe thermal injuries.
