Vitamin D deficiency increases thrush risk in HIV patients
Vitamin D status and incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis, opportunistic infections, and wasting among HIV-infected Tanzanian adults initiating antiretroviral therapy.
A prospective study of 1,103 HIV-infected adults in Tanzania examined whether vitamin D levels affected disease risk during antiretroviral therapy. Researchers measured vitamin D status at treatment initiation and tracked participants monthly for infections and weight loss.
Adults with vitamin D deficiency (below 20 ng/mL) faced nearly double the risk of developing oral thrush compared to those with sufficient levels. Deficiency was also strongly linked to tuberculosis, wasting, and significant weight loss. Interestingly, having borderline low vitamin D didn't increase risk—only true deficiency mattered.
These findings suggest that ensuring adequate vitamin D during HIV treatment may help prevent serious infections like thrush, making vitamin D supplementation worth testing in clinical trials.

Effective against Thrush

Excellent! I've been taking D3 for a year now, 15,000 in winter and 10,000 in summer. During autumn and winter, my husband and I have had no issues at all. My performance is excellent, complexion healthy, and the bruises under my eyes have diminished. My metabolism has improved, deficiencies addressed, and I managed to conceive after eight years. Now that I'm pregnant, I take 10,000. When symptoms of Thrush or cystitis arise, I increase to 20,000, and it resolves within a day. D3 fortifies the mucosal walls, making them less prone to infections.

Enhanced immunity noted
Our whole family has been taking D3 for a year. Our skin has become more elastic, and the bruises under our eyes have diminished. Our immunity has strengthened - we have not been ill at all in that time. I have never experienced cystitis or Thrush, a stark contrast to before when I would fall ill at the first sign of a cold. Vitamin D3 strengthens mucous membranes and aids in resisting infections.

Improved overall health
Following recovery from a viral illness, I found myself getting sick more often, with Thrush nearly every month. I had severe deficiencies after the virus. I began my recovery with oregano oil, vitamins C and D, B vitamins, and milk thistle on an empty stomach. Now, I feel significantly better and continue to take vitamin D regularly.
