Silybum marianum may reduce diarrheaRetrospective analysis of the effects of a highly standardized mixture of Berberis aristata, Silybum marianum, and monacolins K and KA in diabetic patients with dyslipidemia.

We analyzed how the food supplement Berberol®K, which includes silybin and berberine, affects diarrhea in diabetic patients struggling with dyslipidemia. In our study of 59 patients dealing with irritable bowel syndrome or diarrhea caused by metformin, we found that those taking Berberol®K experienced a notable reduction in diarrhea symptoms.
After six months, only five participants on the supplement reported diarrhea compared to 22 in the untreated group. This suggests that Silybum marianum may help alleviate diarrhea, making it a promising option for patients who are statin intolerant or struggling with gastrointestinal discomfort.
Chronic diarrhoea relief
Most Useful Review
A big yes! I take one at bedtime, and it has significantly helped with my chronic diarrhoea, a problem I’ve had for over 30 years. I wish doctors had recommended this sooner as other treatments were ineffective and costly. Since starting, my symptoms have improved markedly, with my bowel issues getting around 80% better, and I hope for further benefits.
