I DO like that my dog with IBS can eat this food so I don't have to buy prescription. I DON'T like that the majority of the cans are extremely damaged, some to the point they are not safe to use. I don't see this in the grocery store and many of the cans are at the center of the case, so were damaged before shipping. Makes me wonder if these are seconds - cans too badly damaged to sell to stores. Ongoing problem..
Read More...We adopted a 3 year old pit bull roughly 6 months ago. We had been feeding her Science Diet canned and dry because we could get it locally from our vet. Due to our location, there is only one grocery store and the variety of dog foods is limited. We had to make a trip to the "city" and I found I had not packed enough canned food for our baby to last for the duration. So I ran down to the HEB and just grabbed the Purina One Beef and Brown Rice because, frankly, I was hungry and this sounded good to me! (No, I didn't eat any of it.) When I opened the can, it smelled so good and our dog's nose was sniffing so hard, it was almost trembling. I trained her to wait for her food until she gets the signal that it's OK to eat, so I gave her the signal as soon as I put her food bowl down because it seemed cruel to make her wait too long for something that she obviously thought smelled so good. She had not been very excited about the Science Diet canned. I was impressed with the ingredient list, so we decided to switch her canned food to the Purina One Beef and Brown Rice. She still gets excited when she sees the can and we mix it with her dry food twice a day. We will probably try a small bag of the dry formula when we run out of the Science Diet dry. But I want to read the ingredient list FIRST this time before I buy. I like the fact that Purina is made in USA and I'm sure it isn't made from the best cut of the cow. I am not that naïve. But the aroma and appearance of this food looks like it is a good quality food. The signal that it's OK to eat has been extended since that first feeding. But it's on Subscribe and Save now so we know that she will not run out and we'll feed it until she gets tired of it. But I don't think that will happen any time soon

I did compare this product to Pedigree canned dog food, where the first ingredient is not a meat, like this one. However, the protein content of both is the same, and the nutritional analysis is the same except for a minor difference in fiber. How does that work? Isn't meat as the first ingredient supposed to render the product superior? I'm confused
Read More...My dog stopped eating dry food. We needed canned food to mix with her kibbles that wouldnt upset her belly or irritate her skin. She has sensitivities to corn and soy. I was amazed to find this food for only $10/12 cans AND containing neither of the 2. I'm sure it's not the highest quality meats but at least it wasn't 90% fillers. This food was loved and handled well by my German shepherd. We bought several cases. The last batch I ordered arrived with several cans punctured and leaking. They had a gross fishy aroma, not normal since we buy the beef. I contacted Amazon about this and they immediately sent out replacements of not just the case, but of all THREE cases that I ordered even though only one case was affected. Free of charge. AMAZING customer service, I was so impressed. None of the new cases had this issue but just to be safe we switched to IAMS canned food. The issue was clearly a manufacturers issue since they were wrapped in plastic and the affected cans were toward the center. And Amazon still took the fall and generously replaced without question. Read More...I really like this wet food so far. We have been feeding it for the past two weeks. I add a scoop to my dogs food twice a day to tempt her to eat it. When she first came from the shelter (3 weeks ago) she skipped a lot of meals. She is eating dry food better now but she loves this so we plan on continuing. I tend to like that I can understand the ingredients list better in wet foods than dry dog foods. Even though I am committed to including dry kibble for dental health I need to spend a lot less time trying to understand what ingrients are on wet food. This list is simple includes meat products first and is grain inclusive (see my reasons below). Giving my dog a mix of wet and dry makes me hopeful she will get a good mix of nutrients overall even though I am not an expert I do put a lot of thought and effort into choosing what works for my dog. I worked for a vet (just a secretary) that was very passionate about having grains in dog food. His take on the whole debate was that there isn't any evidence in medical journals that grains are bad for dogs and we don't have a full understanding yet of why certain grain free diets are linked to heart disease in dogs so he can't recommend them. I remain curious about what researchers find out. But, until there is a better understanding of the reasons why certain grain free foods are correlated with heart disease I plan on avoiding them. I appreciate a wet food option that gives me the power to make that choice. Every time I go down the rabbit hole of dog food research I get frustrated by the extreme difference in the reviews. I'm not an expert by any stretch just someone who wants to do right by my newest family member. My dogs poop, appetite and fur have been improving since she came from the shelter and adjusted to a diet of Purina one instinct salmon with this wet food and a fish oil supplement. Seems to have helped regulate his bowel movements more than his previous wet dog food. Choose this brand because of its affordability (most of the time, keep an eye out for price reductions), while still receiving 3 out of 5 stars on (...). I definitely recommend

Read More...My girls absolutely love this food. My husband was constantly looking for a different food (Chopped House Grilled) by Purina but with the Pandemic it became a shortage item. So I decided to still hang in there w Purina a food my family has always used. So I grabbed a few cans on the shelf first for them to try. The first day I went to feed them I wasn't sure how my girls would like a ground food. I put the bowls down turned around to throw the can away, when I turned around again it was gone. I thought this was a lot better liked then the Choppedhouse. I have a picky girl that just won't eat anything. She would eat some of the Choppedhouse and leave the rest for later or she just wouldn't eat at all. So of course my girls don't think they are eating dog food, I tell them everyday Mama cooked your food. Thank you Purina, I'm disabled so it's nice that I can order my girls food online here and not have to reach at the top or bend at the bottom shelf. I do have a problem with this order did not come to me. It said it was delivered by handing the food to someone else. I have a large metal sign on the front of my fence that asks the driver to drop packages in the box I have made for this. My fence is always locked. So apparently we have some drivers that need to go back to school & learn how to read. Thank you
Read More...Another dog food review for you - Pibbles the Pit Bull Princess here. I like this food ok, but I wish Mama would give it to me by itself. She keeps putting those little dry round things - she calls them "kibble" - in it. What I like even better is the wet gravy stuff with the slices in it. That's better than this ground-up food, so I only give this one 4 stars. She finally figured it out, after a long time of my staring at her when she put the bowl down with this in it that I wanted the other one instead. My favorite is this one: Purina ONE SmartBlend Tender Cuts in Gravy Wet Dog Food - (12) 13 oz. Cans I sure wish I could speak Human! My tongue gets in the way sometimes. Especially when there is food apaw. Anyway, I think the label says there is something good for me in this stuff. Mama wouldn't have made me eat this for so long otherwise, before she started buying the other food with gravy and sliced meat that I like more to mix in with the "kibble." At least this made the little round dry thingies go down easier and it smelled better when she mixed this in. It's way better now, since the new stuff with gravy! I give that one 5 stars! Oh, I have to tell you this: I did chase around the rice on the floor if it got away from me. I love that brown rice. It's totally yummy. Mmmmmm. I'm making me hungry. Moooooomm? Hey, Mama.....!!
