We set out to uncover how certain amino acids, particularly lysine, help with cold acclimation. Over three months, 20 men were monitored for physiological changes after being exposed to cold.
We found that continuous exposure led to faster cold-induced vasodilation and improved finger temperature. Notably, lysine was the only amino acid that significantly changed and positively correlated with these improvements in cold response.
In mouse trials, lysine supplementation helped maintain core body temperature during cold exposure, indicating its role in supporting metabolic adjustments to the cold.

Best Cold Sore Remedy I Have Ever Used! Due to intense stress, I usually experience a cold sore quickly. This product saved me when I felt stress coming, as I commenced taking it three times daily. The itchiness commenced but the sore never appeared. This is remarkable considering my stress kept me awake for two nights. I have not had a cold sore since using this product. It's a lifesaver, and I urge others to buy it!

Nature's coldsore cure. Should this company have stock, I would certainly invest. This product is a wonder. If you suffer from cold sores, stop reading now and buy this. I used to have a cold sore at least every other month, sometimes even multiple at once. After taking these daily for almost a year, I experienced the beginnings of four cold sores, but only one developed. When I feel the tingle, I take a handful three times a day, and usually, the sore resolves in under a day. It's astonishing! I take one daily when I'm not experiencing a breakout. Additionally, I’ve only been ill once in the last year, which was a seasonal cold my entire office caught. The only downside is the odd smell resembling pizza crust.

An excellent immune formula that I've purchased twice already (first 90 capsules, then 180). It has consistently helped me at the initial signs of a cold. As soon as my throat began to hurt, I took three capsules before bed, and by morning, I was back to feeling normal. The formula contains lysine, vitamin C, calcium, propolis, and echinacea extract.

Amazing Cold Sore Killer! I've suffered from cold sores since the eighth grade and tried many remedies with little success. Five years ago, I discovered this supplement. Upon feeling the tingling, I take three tablets morning and night, which prevents outbreaks. Even if I miss early symptoms, this product significantly reduces the healing time and discomfort. Just be cautious with dosage; taking too much can upset your stomach. The tablet size is excellent and easy to ingest.

Absolutely Amazing! I use these as needed rather than daily. I've suffered for years with painful cold sores, usually 2-4 annual outbreaks. When I felt an outbreak coming, I took three of these pills and they stopped the cold sore from developing. With the lip balm, I've altogether avoided cold sores, though I did have one during the flu. I took three pills in the morning, and it didn't worsen; it was gone by the next morning. They have changed my life!
Cold is a term that refers to a state of low temperature, often associated with a perceptibly chilly environment or the sensation of being cool to the touch. Scientifically, cold is relative to the presence and movement of heat, which is a measure of energy within matter. In everyday terms, we experience cold through weather changes, such as during winter months, and it can also be described in the context of specific temperature ranges – for example, temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) generally signify freezing conditions, which can impact outdoor activities, personal comfort, and various ecological systems.
Moreover, the sensation of cold is not solely dependent on temperature; factors like humidity and wind chill can enhance the feeling of coldness. When discussing cold in terms of human health, prolonged exposure to cold conditions can lead to hypothermia or frostbite if body heat is not effectively maintained. Hence, it's crucial to dress appropriately and take necessary precautions during colder months to prevent adverse effects. Understanding the concept of cold can help individuals better prepare for seasonal changes and ensure their comfort and safety.
L-Lysine is an essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in many bodily functions. Unlike some amino acids that can be synthesized by the body, L-Lysine must be obtained through diet or supplementation. It is particularly important for protein synthesis, hormone production, and the absorption of calcium. Good dietary sources of L-Lysine include meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, and certain plant sources such as beans and legumes. Athletes and individuals looking to support muscle recovery and growth often consider L-Lysine supplements.
In addition to its role in enhancing muscle recovery, L-Lysine is also often touted for its potential benefits in supporting immune function and combating cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus. Some studies suggest that L-Lysine may help reduce the frequency and severity of these outbreaks. However, it’s always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement to determine the appropriate dosage and ensure it aligns with your health needs.
L-Lysine is an essential amino acid that has been studied for its potential benefits in managing cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus, but its effectiveness in treating common colds is less clear. Some research suggests that L-Lysine may help reduce the frequency and severity of cold sore outbreaks when taken as a supplement. However, when it comes to the common cold, which is caused by a different group of viruses, there is insufficient evidence to support the claim that L-Lysine can shorten the duration or alleviate the symptoms of a cold.
While L-Lysine is generally regarded as safe for most people when used in appropriate doses, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you're dealing with a viral infection or have underlying health conditions. In summary, L-Lysine may be helpful for those prone to cold sores, but it is unlikely to provide significant relief for the common cold.
Based on user reviews, many individuals report experiencing significant relief from cold symptoms within a very short timeframe, often as little as one day after taking the supplement. For instance, one user noted that by taking three capsules before bedtime at the first sign of a sore throat, they felt completely normal the next morning Read Review. Another review echoed similar sentiments, stating that they began to feel better in just a couple of days after starting the supplement Read Review.
Additionally, consistent usage at the initial signs of illness appears to be crucial for efficacy. A user reported that they typically recover within a maximum of two days when they start taking it at the first indications of a cold Read Review. Therefore, for best results, it's advisable to begin taking the supplement as soon as you notice symptoms, which can significantly shorten the duration of your cold.
Lysine has been studied for its potential benefits in cold acclimation, particularly in how it may enhance physiological responses to cold exposure. A recent study monitored 20 men over three months to evaluate the impact of various amino acids, discovering that lysine was the only amino acid that significantly improved cold-induced vasodilation and finger temperature ([1]). Additionally, research involving mouse trials indicated that lysine supplementation helps maintain core body temperature during cold exposure, suggesting it plays a role in metabolic adjustments to cold environments.
While the primary focus of this research was on cold acclimation, rather than directly addressing common cold symptoms, the findings emphasize lysine's potential benefits in enhancing the body's response to cold exposure. However, there is limited direct evidence supporting lysine's effectiveness against colds or viral infections. Therefore, while lysine might support cold acclimation processes, its role as a supplement for treating colds lacks substantial scientific backing.

Best for cold. I bought this on a blogger's recommendation and am truly grateful. A child in kindergarten often catches colds; I take this medication and recover in a maximum of two days, whereas before it took me two weeks. I usually take three tablets at once. Sometimes that's enough; other times, I take it the next day, and the cold disappears. However, it hasn't worked for everyone; my friend did not benefit from it. I find it economical, as it's more effective when taken at the first sign of a cold rather than as a preventive.

I have not been ill with a cold for an entire year! After taking three tablets on an empty stomach for a month, I successfully avoided illness. I highly recommend it for the autumn period, especially to fend off snot and viruses. Just be aware that there is a subtle garlic smell.

In our family, superlysin is a lifesaver. As soon as we begin to feel unwell, we take three tablets in the morning and 1000mg of vitamin C in the evening. The illness recedes much quicker and is often without fever. We also use it preventively in the same dosage when in contact with sick individuals, and it helps us avoid getting sick. I’m uncertain if superlysin fosters stable immunity, but as a tool for combating illness, it performs wonderfully. The capsules are quite large; taking three may be a challenge if your throat hurts, but the benefits are worthwhile. No lingering illnesses or complications have occurred in our family while using superlysin. I highly recommend it!

Good working complex! I took these vitamins for the first time and managed to experience their benefits for both myself and my husband. They truly help to cope with a cold faster. I consume three a day with food, as I have some stomach issues and not on an empty stomach, as suggested in the reviews. I also add vitamin D, vitamin C, elderberry and colostrum to my regimen. It helps tremendously, so I advise everyone to try it!

Effective for cold sores

Very effective at battling cold sores. I take two tablets per hour upon feeling the initial tingling of an oncoming cold sore and continue until it starts healing. I also use topical calendula cream. It's vital to reduce or remove arginine-containing foods from your diet, such as chicken soup and nuts, to decrease the frequency of cold sores. Avoid high arginine foods if you have a cold sore, as lysine and arginine work against each other in skin healing.
