The Benefits of Coenzyme Q10, Angina Treatment

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a naturally occurring antioxidant that plays a crucial role in cellular energy production. Research on the potential benefits of CoQ10 for preventing or helping with Angina a condition characterized by chest pain or discomfort due to reduced blood flow to the heart, has yielded mixed results.

Several small-scale studies suggest that CoQ10 supplementation might provide symptomatic relief for Angina patients. CoQ10 can potentially improve endothelial function, decrease oxidative stress, and enhance nitric oxide production, which may help dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow to the heart. However, the evidence is limited, and more high-quality randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are needed to establish these benefits.

A Cochrane review published in 2015 analyzed eleven RCTs involving a total of 565 participants and concluded that the available evidence is insufficient to determine the effectiveness of CoQ10 in treating Angina The review highlighted the overall low quality of the included studies and the inconsistency in reported outcomes. While some studies showed a potential benefit, others did not find any significant improvements. Therefore, more extensive research is required to ascertain whether CoQ10 can be considered a useful intervention for Angina
