Did you know that CoQ10 might make your insulin more effective, and your wafarin less effective?

I suppose like many here, I take this supplement because from reading on the Web it seems it might be beneficial to me. I don't notice any jumps in my feelings of wellbeing, but I hope that it is helping me stay healthier. I have not decided this, or any particular brand is the best offered. I thought I would review it just to make sure people were aware of a few bits of information: Coenzyme Q 10 or CoQ10 can refer to several different substances both ubiquinone which is an electron transport enhancer and ubiquinol which is an antioxidant membrane stabilizer, are several of the alternative names for CoQ10. It is IMPORTANT to know that: CoQ10 can increase the effect of your insulin, (lowering your blood sugar... and decrease the effect of your wafarin. (lessening the blood thinning effect... Also, if you are taking hypertensive medications, this supplement may further increase your blood pressure drop. Some sites indicate that it may increase your liver enzyme values, and suggest caution if you have difficulties with hepatic insufficiency, or bilary obstruction. Many people take CoQ10 because they are also taking statins to decrease their cholesterol, and statins decrease your CoQ10 Other reasons some people may take CoQ10 are: CHF chronic heart failure, supposedly it helps the walls of the heart firm up and pump more effectively angina - Chest pain (always check out Chest pain, especially if getting worse it could indicate you may have a heart attack soon diabetes mellitis - mitochondrial cytopathies and encephalopmyopathies myopathies - statin induce
