Iron aids eczema management
We examined how adding oral iron to a low nickel diet could help manage chronic vesicular hand eczema (CVHE) in individuals sensitive to nickel. In our study, we involved 23 patients with CVHE split into two groups. One group followed a low nickel diet (LND) along with oral iron for 12 weeks, while the other group simply followed the LND.

The results were striking—83.33% of those taking oral iron experienced complete clearance of their eczema symptoms compared to 45.45% in the control group. This made it clear that dietary nickel was being absorbed less when oral iron was present.

We found that the combination of LND and oral iron not only helped decrease nickel levels in the blood but also significantly sped up the improvement of eczema symptoms in those sensitive to nickel. This study highlights the potential benefits of iron in conjunction with dietary modifications for managing eczema.

Iron protects against eczema toxin
We discovered that certain iron compounds can shield sheep from the toxic effects of sporidesmin, a toxin associated with facial eczema. The study examined various iron salts and noted that while the specific oxidation state of the iron wasn’t crucial, being water-soluble was a key factor in how well they worked.

Interestingly, we found that iron salts had a complementary effect when paired with zinc. This synergy suggests that the protective qualities of these compounds may be due to their ability to reduce copper absorption in the body. This insight aligns with previous theories about the way sporidesmin contributes to toxicity through free radicals.

Overall, our findings indicate a promising direction for further research into how iron can serve as a protective measure against certain types of eczema, especially in livestock.

Eczema improvement
Iron deficiency led to my eczema flare-up, prompting a visit to the doctor for a ferritin and iron blood test, which confirmed my deficiency. After selecting the appropriate iron supplement, I take it twice daily along with vitamin C, D, folic acid, B vitamins, and spirulina. Since starting this regimen, I have consumed half a can, and my eczema has nearly cleared up. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
