Vitamin B6 may reduce CIPN severity
Vitamin B6 status and chronic chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy: a prospective cohort study among patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer receiving oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy.
Moderately relevant findings on efficacy
We investigated the relationship between vitamin B6 levels and chronic chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in patients undergoing oxaliplatin-based treatment for non-metastatic colorectal cancer. This study included 242 participants, and we gathered blood samples from them before they started chemotherapy, and then again six and twelve months later.

Our goal was to understand how different vitamin B6 markers, such as pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, relate to the development and severity of CIPN, a common side effect of chemotherapy that can significantly impact quality of life. After analyzing the data, we found that patients with higher levels of vitamin B6 during their chemotherapy were less likely to suffer from chronic CIPN and its associated severity, as compared to those with lower levels.

This suggests that maintaining an optimal vitamin B6 status during treatment could be beneficial for reducing nerve damage caused by chemotherapy. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings and explore how vitamin B6 could be best utilized in cancer treatment settings.

Alleviates constipation
For constipation, leg cramps, and healthy bone building, this is a great supplement to ease the side effects of chemotherapy! Chemotherapy causes various side effects, with constipation being one of them. My husband, a cancer patient, experienced binding despite maintaining a healthy diet. Laxatives are chemical-laden and often take days to work. Instead, he took these supplements and became “regular” within days. The chemo depletes essential vitamins, so the B6 combined with magnesium ensures maximum absorption. I also take them now, and my usual leg cramps have disappeared. Many people lack enough magnesium in their diet, crucial for bone production. This product is particularly beneficial for older individuals. The tablets are small, easy to swallow, and smooth, making them quite tolerable.
