Zinc's limited role in diarrhea
Effect of probiotics plus zinc supplementation on clinical outcomes of infants and children with acute infectious diarrhea: a randomized controlled trial.
Combined treatment efficacy examined
We explored how adding zinc to probiotics affects children suffering from acute infectious diarrhea, focusing on the severity of their illness. Our study involved children diagnosed with mild to moderate or severe gastroenteritis, who were then randomly assigned to either receive probiotics with zinc or probiotics alone for one week. The probiotics included live strains that are often used for gut health.

After evaluating the outcomes, we found that the combination of probiotics and zinc did not show a significant impact on disease severity at the two-week mark. However, what we did observe was that children who received the probiotics plus zinc seemed to recover more quickly compared to those who received probiotics alone. This finding suggests that while zinc didn't reduce the overall severity of the illness, it may help speed up recovery.

Overall, our research provides insights but also highlights the limited role zinc may play when combined with probiotics in treating gastroenteritis in young children.

Recommended by a friend, I had a cold and gastroenteritis some time ago. In addition to food and medicine, I incorporated this product, which helped me heal very quickly.
