Nutrigold customer since January 2015 until price hike, Sports Research is the perfect replacement

I've been using Nutrigold's Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil Supplement for almost two years and couldn't be happier with the product. A few weeks ago I needed to make another purchase and saw that it was no longer available on Amazon. It led me to scour for a replacement, and I'd hoped to find something similarly high quality yet affordably priced, which Nutrigold once was. After looking around at many fish oil products I decided to try Sports Research Omega-3 Fish Oil, and I've been using the product for about two weeks now. Today I randomly decided to check to see if Nutrigold's product was available again, and it is now back in stock... for $58.99. When I first purchased their product in January 2015 I paid $37. The price went up during the following 18 months, fluctuating up and down in the low to mid $40 range. I found even the mid $40 range to be a bit expensive but I thought Nutrigold's product was worth it. Fast forward to today and the price has skied to $58.99. I'll now move on to Sport Research Omega-3 Fish Oil product. I can only attest to the two weeks since I've started taking it, but it has done a great job filling in as a replacement for Nutrigold's Triple Strength fish oil (I will refer to the two companies as SR and NG respectively). First off, both products come with 180 capsules of similar volume, thus making it fair to compare the value of the products. SR's product is in triglyceride form, while NG's Triple Strength product is in Ethyl Ester form, though Nutrigold states that "there are no differences in the two forms of fish oil in terms of stability or effectiveness" (on their Triple Strength product page). The two products have similar overall Omega-3 totals (1,060 mg total Omega-3 in NG, 1,037 mg total Omega 3 in SR) and somewhat similar EPA/DHA ratios (750 mg EPA/250 mg DHA in NG's product, 687 mg EPA/250 mg DHA in SR's product). Like NG's product SR's product is IFOS 5-Star certified. What sealed my purchase of SR's product is that it uses the same exact type of fish as NG's product (wild Alaska Pollock). I do not know what type of coating SR's product uses, but like NG's product it has left me with zero fishy burps. I no longer have any NG capsules for comparison but I believe SR's capsules are of similar size. I have been using Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold Fish Oil Supplement daily for almost two years and was highly disappointed by the price hike. Several weeks into transitioning to Sports Research Omega-3 Fish Oil I believe it is the perfect replacement for Nutrigold's product. I can only hope that Sports Research does not follow the same path as Nutrigold with raising the price of their product to unreasonably high levels. HUGE difference in yearly labs from 2020, 2021 and just did 2022! CHOLESTEROL and TRIGLYCERIDES

was disappointed with my 2020 labs. Cholesterol was 234, triglycerides were 192, both out of the good range. So for a year, I took this product with one 6 mg Bioastin Astaxanthin. my 2021 labs were Cholesterol 175, Triglycerides 185. both lower, my cholesterol by a lot, my tris went down but not enough Just did my 2022 labs, Cholesterol went up a bit but still in good zone, 189 (and I know what I was eating to make them higher and watching that, but like I said, STILL in good zone). BUT my triglycerides which was the ONE thing my doc was watching went down to.....94!!! And I am not very active, didn't change eating and am now 71. ALL I can attribute it to is taking one of these and one 6 mg bioastin astaxanthin. I don't know if I would get the same results with different brands, but I do know nothing started to drop like this til I took them both (I take together AFTER a meal, breakfast or lunch. I read they work better together). Different people get different results for different supplements. ALL I can do is share mine. PS YOU have to give it time. These labs were all a year apart, and I take them daily, religiously! So if you take them daily, it could take at least three months to see a change, but within six months, you should see a noticeable one. But pls note I listed THREE years of labs all done at least 12 months apart

CHOLESTEROL was lowered by over 50 points! VERY HAPPY!

EDIT: Got my lab results today. in 2020, my cholesterol was over 234, one year later, 2021, 175. And I had GAINED five pounds! Haven't been more active over the last year, haven't changed eating habits (I TRY to be good, but) and yet my cholesterol dropped this much, my doc was kind of amazed. I have been taking this omega (ONE a day) with ONE 6 mg astaxanthin very consistently. THAT is all I've really done differently, so I have to give this credit. ________________________________________________________ I have taken Nordic Naturals for years. I like the research I have read and I don't eat meat, so the fact I could get the capsule made out of fish, not beef or pork, was a big deal to me. I have read people here saying it's not wild caught fish in the gelatin, I have yet to find many omega-3's that OFFER a fish gelatin capsule and none that have said their CAPSULE is made out of wild caught. I'm fine with that. Comparing to Nordic Naturals - Digestibility - I have acid reflux and a hiatal hernia, being able to TAKE a supplement is obviously an important first step. I have NO issue with these, no fishy aftertaste, nothing and they don't upset my stomach. SAME with Nordic Naturals, so far, equal. Ingredients/Potency - from what I have read, fine with both. WHAT I REALLY like is I only have to take ONE of the Sports Research and I get more omega's from this one, than the one I was using from Nordic. Yes, they have stronger ones at Nordic, but few come with the fish gelatin cap. PLUS NORDIC NATURALS is much more expensive for this strength. SO score one for Sports Research. Price - Don't know if this is on sale, or regular price at about 22 bucks, but to get the quantity I got for that AND just have to take one!? SCORE. Effects - I take these, yes, because good for many things, but I take with 6 mgs of astaxanthin and it has literally cured my dry eye, and even after just having cataract surgery, which can often dry eyes, my eyes still feel moisturized from the INSIDE. IT'S GREAT after years of dry eye. I started doing this with NORDIC, but works just as well, if not better, with Sports Research. BOTTOMLINE: UNLESS something changes, and I will edit if it does, THIS has replaced Nordic for me and I took those for over a decade

Oh my, where to begin with this fabulous review !

This product has (in 1.5 months) improved my bloodwork so much that my physician wants me to bring in the empty bottle so she can share it with her other patients. Not only did it bring my bad cholesterol down over 60 points (this time - can't wait to see it in 6 months) - it also brought my triglycerides down over 400 points ! Granted I stopped frying food as often - But, remember, I had just started taking this about 1.5 months prior to my 6 months bloodwork. Please, if you are on the fence about this product, JUST DO IT ! I am so glad I did

Actually repurchased from Sports Research

I don't want get into this whole thing about having to return the product to Amazon, but I did. I brought this for my special needs son, who has meltdowns without warning. They can last anywhere from 1 day to 1 month. Not a fan of harsh drugs, since they seem so cut throat and unforgiving. I don't have the heart to run him through the experiments that have been FDA approved. I have my opinions on humane treatment and they have theirs. So my son takes 2 per day he's 122lb adult. It has taken about a month to show some signs of a breakthrough... But I am still watching. He seems happier and more relaxed all around, but that could be his natural way. He is naturally an easygoing-quiet-full-of-smiles kind of guy. So when he has a meltdown ðŸ« it's very noticeable that he is in one. His mother, that's me, loves to get him out of his comfort zone, he doesn't like it , but he amuses me sometimes. Lately, he has been a champ with allowing me to push him out of his zone... I know this fish oil has something to do with it. Never forgetting though, that we don't live by bread alone

UPDATE 03/22/20: Second time ordering this product! I had switched to a less expensive fish oil for a few weeks while changing jobs, and definitely didn't feel the same benefits. Going back to the SR fish oil I haven't noticed as drastic a positive change as when I first started taking it, but I'll chalk that up to winter blues. No fishy burps or other unpleasant effects - still has my recommendation! ORIGINAL 10/08/19: First impressions were great - quick delivery and quality packaging. No fishy smelly opening the bottle and capsules are all intact and none stuck together or misshapen. Haven't noticed any negative physical side effects, or offensively fishy burps. Maybe if taken on an empty stomach I'll notice a faint "whisper" of fishiness (lol), but that might be imagined. I stopped working in April to focus wholly on my health and wellbeing, and definitely think these have had a positive effect for both mind and body (in addition to other practical lifestyle changes/supplements i.e. daily vitamins, probiotic etc). I have ADHD and deal with anxiety and depression most of the time, and really feel that adding a fish oil has helped to balance my moods and mental state. I'm currently not taking an ADHD medication for the first time in ~7yrs and don't feel completely all over the place. I've been taking them daily for about a month now and the change has been subtle mostly that being a person just feels a little easier, but I noticed a drastic improvement in my PMS. I have unbearable mood swings from hormones, and track my menstrual cycle with an app for this reason. I'm hopeful this is a new normal, and based on that fact alone would recommend it especially for any women with troubling emotional PMS. Every body is different, and it's not a panacea - but I have nothing bad to say about the brand or product and would recommend anyone interested in trying (or switching) fish oil supplements to go for it

Works but makes body smell like fish

I have taken this fish oil for 3 weeks and it delivers on the benefits I expect from this type of supplement. The one big down side is that anytime I exercise or just sweat, my entire body reeks of fish. My wife says it smells like rotten punani

The best

This has been my favorite fish oil for a couple years now. It has the omega 3s in triglyceride form (TG), which is what you want. This is one of the most affordable TG fish oils, and it has always been good quality in my experience. I even took a blood test called the omega 3 index, which basically measures omega 3 levels in your blood. My results were really great. I take one softgel, twice a day

highest potency for the money

I've used this product for quite some time. I like that it is 3rd party tested here in the USA. I like that I don't have to taste fish oil for hours after taking it!! You can track the product that you've purchased using the Lot #. It is the highest potencyEFA's that I have found as well as being mindful of sustainability & Non-GMO. Checking all of the boxes for me

No fishy flavor!

These are the best fish oil and I won't buy any other kind. My cholesterol and triglycerides were high so I was told to start taking fish oil… I love that you only have to take one a day and they have absolutely no fishy taste during or after taking. They really made a difference in my lab levels. I actually stopped taking them bc my levels were getting better then had labs drawn again and my cholesterol and triglycerides were going back up so I've bought the biggest bottle and started them again! If you need fish oil, this is the way to go
