Do Not Ingest Comfrey!
I don't think I realized that Comfrey should never be ingested before purchasing this. Therefore I've only opened the bag to take a whiff, and that's about it so far. I do regret purchasing it without this knowledge before being prepared to use it in a recipe. However this herb has a lot of good qualities regardless... So here is some accurate and important info for you guys: Do not take Comfrey by mouth due to it's pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which can cause lung disease, cancer, and liver damage. It's best used topically on unbroken skin for periods less than 10 days. Also, avoid using Comfrey if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Comfrey features an impressive cocktail of skin-healing compounds including allantoin, tannins, rosmarinic acid, saponins, calcium, potassium, and vitamins A, B, and C. It's leaves and stems are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and age-defying when used in skincare. Comfrey was a secret beauty ingredient used by ancient civilizations for it's skin-healing, anti-aging, and youth-promoting effects.
