Loyal user after trying lower-priced brand (and doing without)
Magnesium was recommended by a nurse practitioner when I mentioned my difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Melatonin gives me terrible nightmares; OTC sleep remedies give me a hangover...if I have allergies or Hives, I can only manage half a Benadryl and go straight to bed. Sundown magnesium helped me to drift off and to sleep solidly by the third night. My insomnia completely subsided through that first four months. When I ran low, my son bought a less-expensive brand at the nearby pharmacy. I became irritable and was awake from 2 AM-4:30 AM, again. I'm a big supporter of generics; however, the cost savings of the other product wasn't worth it. After I resumed taking Sundown magnesium, my consistent sleep resumed. When I forgot to pack it for a 4-day weekend getaway, it was a big regret. I don't normally take mineral supplements or vitamins unless there's a deficiency in the labs run by my doctor. I did read on the NIH National Library of Medicine that magnesium helps to regulate antioxidants, anti-inflammatory responses, and the proper functioning of other micronutrients, such as vitamin D. I discussed with my PCP the sleep benefits that I've felt.
