We explored the effects of vitamin E supplementation on patients with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS), particularly focusing on symptoms like eczema. In a three-year study, six patients who were already on dietary cholesterol treatment received vitamin E. Their vitamin E levels were initially low, but following supplementation, all patients showed a significant increase in plasma vitamin E concentrations.

Among the various symptoms assessed, including aggression, irritability, and skin issues like eczema, some patients reported improvements. Our findings indicated that three out of the six patients experienced a reduction in symptoms, including skin photosensitivity and eczema. Notably, those who responded best to therapy had lower baseline ratios of certain cholesterol-related compounds.

While the study suggests that vitamin E could provide benefits to SLOS patients鈥攑ossibly contributing to improvements in skin conditions like eczema鈥攊ndividual responses varied. Thus, vitamin E supplementation may be worth considering in the management of SLOS, especially for those with low initial vitamin E levels and certain biochemical markers.

Game changer oil

If you're pale and burn easily, mix this oil with coconut oil, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. The Vitamin E oil is thick and sticky, but when combined with other oils, it鈥檚 easy to apply and effective. I get small patches of eczema, and this combination has been a total game changer. I used to spend lots on expensive eczema lotions, but this will last for years.

Works well for kids

Amazing product! I use it in my kids' body wash, as they both experience eczema during the dry winter months. It effectively treats dry patches on their skin too. This bottle is quite small, but the liquid is very thick, so it's best to use it sparingly. I've been using it for about 6-10 months, and there's still more than half a bottle left.
