We examined the effects of Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856, a type of probiotic, on functional gas and bloating in adults. In a well-structured, double-blind study with 70 participants, those taking the probiotics saw a significant reduction in indigestion symptoms compared to the placebo group.

Although the probiotic group had notable improvements in their symptom scores, the placebo group also experienced some changes. Overall, Bacillus coagulans shows promise as a helpful supplement for those experiencing bothersome bloating and gas.

HP7 shows promise for indigestion
We explored the potential of the HP7 probiotic, derived from kimchi, in treating functional dyspepsia (FD) in a mouse model. Our findings revealed that HP7 significantly improved gastrointestinal motility and gastric emptying, indicating better digestion. The probiotic seemed to enhance the contraction of smooth muscles and normalize key digestive hormones and enzymes. These promising results suggest HP7's effectiveness in alleviating symptoms associated with indigestion, showing initial evidence of its benefits in managing FD.

Probiotics improve indigestion treatment
We investigated how adding the Lactobacillus reuteri probiotic affects indigestion in patients undergoing treatment for Helicobacter pylori infection. In a randomized and double-blind trial, ninety participants received standard therapy followed by either the probiotic or a placebo.

Results showed a remarkable boost in H. pylori eradication rates in the probiotic group, along with significant reductions in symptoms like indigestion, abdominal pain, and constipation. Patients taking probiotics also reported fewer side effects.

Overall, this study highlights the potential of probiotics to enhance treatment outcomes and comfort during therapy.

Probiotics aid indigestion in males
We conducted a double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled trial to explore the effects of a multi-strain probiotic on patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

While we didn’t see major improvements in psychiatric symptoms, we did find that male participants reported a significant decrease in indigestion complaints after taking probiotics.

Additionally, there were promising signs of improved gut health markers and a slight edge in verbal memory cognition. Overall, these results highlight probiotics as a potential for supporting gut health in individuals with these serious conditions.

Synbiotic improves digestive health
This study looked into how a specific synbiotic product, which includes Lactobacillus acidophilus along with other probiotics and fructooligosaccharides, affects digestive health among healthy adults. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design, we monitored 36 participants—20 women and 16 men aged between 25 and 45 years—over six weeks.

Participants received either the synbiotic supplement or a placebo, taking three tablets daily. We gathered information on gastrointestinal symptoms and bowel habits through a self-administered questionnaire, focusing especially on those who experienced digestive disturbances like mild dyspepsia or bloating.

The results were promising; those who took the synbiotic product reported significant improvements in their overall gastrointestinal well-being and bowel movements. Interestingly, we also noted a reduction in a specific immune marker, L-selectin, in the synbiotic group, which could indicate a favorable shift in their immune profile. However, while the improvements in gut health were noteworthy, none of the other immunological parameters were significantly altered.

In summary, this study suggests that including Lactobacillus acidophilus as part of a synbiotic supplement can lead to better digestive comfort and may influence immune-related markers positively. However, pinpointing the exact effect of this specific strain on indigestion alone is challenging, given the multi-strain nature of the synbiotic treatment.
