MUCH OF WHAT IS IN THIS REVIEW IS REPEATED FROM MY PREVIOUS REVIEW OF THE BANANA CREAM FLAVOR OF THIS POWDER AND APPLIES TO THIS VARIETY AS WELL I just received my latest delivery of this protein powder. I think it is going to be great for several competing medical needs that might be of interest to others. First of all, I am not a bodybuilder. I am an old man who has been a diabetic for more than 30 years. My kidneys are shot, requiring dialysis, and finally, I am permanently disabled. I mention this because I receive EBT Food benefits following the loss of my leg overseas. This protein powder, unlike others I have tried meets my requirements perfectly. First, my doctor says I need protein supplementation, but am on a severely carb restricted diet due to my diabetes. This powder has extremely low carb content compared to some others I have picked up at the grocery store. When combined with 2 cups of almond milk, one scoop gives me a very digestible shake that provides the same nutrition as eating a serving of beef, pork, chicken or fish, with only 5 total carbs. If I add two scoops to the almond milk, I can get 50 grams of protein for only 8 total carbs. Great. My dietician at the dialysis center looked at the nutrition label and determined it was fine for a kidney patient. Next, unlike the vast majority of protein powders, the label on this brand says, "Nutrition Facts", meaning it is considered food, whereas others say "Supplement Facts" and are not. This is an issue for me and perhaps others because you can purchase this with EBT benefits while to buy the others you need to spend cash. For someone who has to use this stuff daily, that is huge. For me, it is actually food. Third, like the Banana Cream flavor, which was the first one I tried, it tastes terrific. It is not overly sweet and has no aftertaste. The little bits of cookie in this powder were a surprise, they are a bit crunchy when you encounter them. A shake made with this powder legitimately tastes like a brownie blended in milk. I also like the packaging. Four pounds will last me a while, and the bale handle on the container makes it much easier for my arthritic hands to pick up. I did note that this flavor is significantly more expensive than the other varieties in the same size. If that is a function of the added cookie bits, they could leave those out as far as I am concerned, but I see from other reviews that many like them. The only small downside to this product is that it is more expensive than some other decent powders out there. For the brand I was using before (Body Fortress, also very good), I was paying about $8 per pound, this one runs about $16 a pound (other flavors cost less). But it is clearly made for serious bodybuilders with the amino acid profile specified right on the container. I consider it worth the difference, especially given that I don't have to use my limited cash to buy it, and it arrives on my doorstep in 48 hours as a Prime member. All the flavors I have tried so far (Banana Cream, Frosted Cinnamon Bun, and Brownie Batter) taste great, and mix well by hand in a shaker cup. This is important to me because if I have to bring out and clean a blender after each shake, I'd probably skip it some days. Also, I'm getting 50 grams of good, easily digestible protein (I use two scoops usually) that has not given me any gastric problems at all, for less than $2 a day average. I think that is a good deal. I can highly recommend this product

As a competitive bodybuilder, I've tried a wide variety of protein supplements over the years (15 years of use). I have to say that I have used Animal Whey consistently for the past three years or so, and I have no desire to use any other protein supplements now. First, the flavors are tasty without being overpowering, and they have quite a selection. I highly recommend the Pumpkin Pie, Birthday Cake, and Brownie Batter. Second, they are infused with digestive enzymes, so they do not upset my stomach like most protein powders. Third, I experience little gas or bloating on this. And fourth, they are great for cooking. Some things you can try: Pumpkin Protein Pancakes (oatmeal, protein, almond milk, egg whites) Brownie Batter Overnight Oats (oatmeal, Brownie Batter Protein, almond milk) Frank's Birthday Cake Cream of Rice Surprise (Cream of Rice, Birthday Cake Protein, Almond Milk) You can even get pretty creative baking with this and it turns out great. I recommend it to my friends and family and I frequently buy this as a nutritional gift for them

I have ordered this product, different flavors, from Animal in the past several times without any problem. I decided to try the chocolate brownie and when it arrived yesterday, I noticed there was some residue on the exterior of the container when I opened the box. I checked the cap and it was just the slightest bit loose, but the cellophane was still in place and I decided to wait until this morning when I opened it up to see if it was still serviceable. Upon taking the cellophane off and unscrewing the cap, the seal itself was in place and tight. I just shrugged it off at that point and tried to remove the seal via the small tabs. As usual, I have difficulty grabbing hold of it with big hands and resorted to using a knife to cut the seal and pull it off. As soon as I made a small incision, I noticed a few small, pin-sized puncture marks in the seal (the larger slash is from my knife.) At this point, there was no way I was going to use this product so I contacted Amazon and a replacement is being sent. I'm not sure how the holes were punctured into it, but am doubtful it occurred during manufacturing and there's nothing on the inside of the lid that, if pressed down hard enough, would have caused this. I'm thankful Amazon is sending a replacement and will give them the benefit of the doubt that the item was not in this condition, exterior-wise, when shipped, and that the product may have come out during its journey (in other words, I'd like to think a person working in the warehouse packing the order would have questioned its condition had it looked like this.) This is to document the incident. As noted, Amazon is replacing the order with another of the same flavor

I've only tried 2 or 3 brands of whey protein over the years, and after trying a few, I've decided to stick with Animal Whey Isolate Powder mixes. The ingredients seem good, and the flavors are great! "Whey Isolate" is the way to go, and the added ingredients to aid digestion really help. I do not experience any gas, or other digestive issues, like other whey products that have me running for the bathroom. I've been using Animal Whey for the last 5 or 6 years now. I've only tried a few of the flavors though. For a while I was ordering Frosted Cinnamon Bun, which is an excellent flavor choice, if you are into creamy flavors. Then I switched it up to Brownie Batter for years, it's an amazing flavor, with little bits of what look like chocolate chips in there, but I'm not sure XD. With my last order, I decided to go with Cookies & Cream, because it was a bit cheaper than the brownie batter. I just received the package now, and mixed some up for a taste test. It reminds me a bit of the Frosted Cinnamon Bun flavor, but better in some way. I can't place my finger on it. It's got a very creamy flavor to it, and reminds me of "Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme(Cream)" candy bars. That being said, they've nailed the flavor profile again. If you like cookies and cream flavor, you will enjoy this one. Moving forward I'll test out a few more flavors, to add some variety :). From the reviews I've read, and the few I've tried, I think any flavor will be good as long as it's not something you normally distaste. Some folks hate bananas, for those who do, do not order banana flavor and expect a good time XD I normally start my day off by sipping one protein shake after my morning supplements, while I get started working on business projects, checking emails, writing an article, etc. Shortly after that I get out for a hike in nature, or some other exercise if the weather is nasty, then return to work afterwards. I definitely notice the protein shakes hitting me, even as I drink them. Although I am very sensitive to chemical changes in my body, and the resulting change in consciousness. Your results may vary. I definitely notice a difference on the days I miss my morning shake though. It's not a tremendous difference. Though, I do feel a bit off, a bit cranky, and not as much energy/motivation. Depending on how much protein I have gotten in a day, I may have another shake an hour or so before bedtime. I find I even sleep better after a shake, even though it seems like it would be counter intuitive. I've read articles for and against having protein at night. It all depends on where your body is at, and your calorie intake that day. Personally, I'd rather reach for a tasty protein shake, for some night time desert, over some other food that would be worse off eating before bed. My sweet tooth activates some nights... They definitely get 5 stars from me. I don't write reviews often, but felt compelled after trying a new flavor. I've never had any issues, besides the scoop being buried, which happens with any powdered supplement. I just hang onto the scoop from the previous container, until I get down to the one that is in there. If you are looking for a solid protein product, I suggest giving them a try :

I've struggled to find a protein powder that mixes well with water. Gold Standard was great with milk, but made me want to vomit with water. ISO 100 was a great protein powder with water, but was too clumpy with milk, not to mention a 5lb tub tops $100. I've tried cheaper proteins that just didn't mix well and flavors sucked. I've struggle to find a strawberry flavored protein, never been a fan of chocolate and vanilla flavors. That strawberry Yoo-hoo was my childhood go to. Found Animal strawberry protein while scrolling through Amazon. Price seemed right for the serving amount. Remember seeing Animalpak in Ingles and figured I'd give it a shot. Ordered the 2 lb tub in case it was anything like the Gold Standard strawberry's and cream flavored, awful by the way. Package arrived within a couple of days. My first thought when opening was that the scoop was a lot larger than the Dimatized and Optimum Nutrition scoops. I like to mix my protein with water to allow me to meet my macros easier. One scoop, 12oz of cold water and a blender bottle. Gave it a good shake and let it settle. Upon the first sip I was blown away with how creamy and thick it was, great texture seeing I mixed with water. And the tasted blew me away! Not too sweet or overpowering of flavor. 5 star all around would recommend. The protein mixed extremely well and left me feeling satisfied between meals. Will try other flavors in the near future and will be grabbing me a 4lb tub soon

I've tried all the flavors at this point so here's a review: Banana- 10/10 flavor and thickness, much better than fairlife, this is the nectar of gods it's so yummy I'd be excited to drink it everyday, so sad they don't make it anymore Vanilla - 10/10 bro this literally tastes like melted ice cream, make sure to use milk or a milk substitute and not water, much better than fairlife Brownie batter - 6/10 not as thick as other flavors honestly kinda mid, still good quality whey but the flavors eh, much rather drink a fairlife Pumpkin - 7/10 not rlly my thing but if ur a pumpkin spice lover I'm sure you'll like it, just as thick as banana and vanilla but honestly I'd rather drink a fairlife Frosted Cinnamon Bun - 5/10 tastes like the pillsbury dough bough threw up in my mouth, I don't know what compelled me to buy a 4lb tub of the stuff but probably the longest 6 weeks of my life consuming this powder, I hate cinnamon sweet stuff so not to my liking at all, but I know other people that tried it loved it and said it tasted like the milk after Cinnamon Toast Crunch, to each their own I guess A review of the actual whey: The digestive enzymes definitely do something, aside from this brand having the best flavored protein powder by far, I also believe that the whey is high quality as I never get bloated from it like I do from other brands

I've had lots of proteins - Optimum Nutrition, BSN, MusclePharm, Cellucor, Arnold Iron Whey, and MuscleTech to name a few. There are a few things I look for when taking protein. I look at the sugar content. Animal Whey is on par with all the others mentioned above - 2g. Next I look at sodium content. Animal whey is on the low end at 130mg (Optimum is at 100mg, BPI Whey-HD is a whopping 300mg!). Next - obviously I look at the protein per scoop..Animal Whey is at the top of the list with some others at 25g per scoop. I also look at how many servings per container. This has 56 servers which comes out to about $0.87/scoop. This is great value. Most protein powders are around $1 per scoop. Optimum has the best value at 0.82/per scoop. The other factor is the taste. I purchased the cookies and cream and the taste is actually a little TOO sweet. Also note that some protein's cause me to bloat and be gassy. This does not :) ...BSN does :/ This is good protein and if you can get a deal I'd say go for it. There's a reason Opitumum Nutrition is considered the standard though. For the price and what you get, I'm not alone when I say that's my go to brand

Brownie batter flavor. I'll give this its due. Clearly isn't spiked based on amino profile. No extraneous ingredients that give me pause. The little chunks of cookie are a nice touch and make me way happier than they probably should. Solubility in milk is good. Taste is good. Not mind-blowing or anything, but quite good. Solid 8.5/10 from me. Not too sweet and no funky, chemical-y aftertaste like I've found a lot of whey powders have. The handle on the top of the jug is actually pretty clever and handy. Fair price. No complaints. I'm happy with this product. EDIT: I've since tried the red velvet flavor. It's pretty good, about a 7.5/10, but it doesn't top the brownie batter. I find its lack of cookie bits disturbing… EDIT 2 (Electric Boogaloo): I have since had the Frosted Cinnamon Bun flavor, and I must advise staying away from it. Let's just say it doesn't exactly taste like Cinnabon. Not the worst thing I've tasted, but not something I look forward to drinking like the other two aforementioned flavors. Still, it's not so bad to dock the actual whey a star regardless, especially I like the product itself enough to keep purchasing it. Obviously

Rarely write reviews...although I think I will more now that I'm finally fed up of buying things on Amazon after reading "reviews" that are magically always 5 stars, yet after clicking on the reviewer, astonishingly indicates that review was their only review, or all of their reviews are all 5 star. It makes me wonder. Anyway, back to reviewing this protein powder. I have NO idea how this protein powder is rated so highly. It doesn't seem like it is good quality at all. 3 Reasons lead me to this conclusion: 2 Stars because: 1. It doesn't mix well, which indicates a few things: For starters, it can indicate the type of the protein. In this case, it shows that this blend is mostly non-isolate. It clumps more like a casein and actually has the consistency of one as well. -The bad thing is, this isn't really a casein either. 2. The taste is completely terrible. Look. I hate giving low stars because of the taste because we all know good and well that these protein shakes are an acquired taste like beer. That being said, Syntha-6 Edge tastes like cheesecake dipped in heaven compared to this protein powder. The taste isn't even like an Optimum Nutrition Whey either. -This stuff tastes more synthetic/unnatural than ANY protein powder I have tried and I've tried many many different brands so I have to knock it for taste. 3. It causes somewhat of an upset stomach. This is important for a few reasons but mainly because lower quality protein powders give you the gas and bloating and upset stomach. I'm not saying this will happen to everyone or even some people, but to me it did. I've had so many different brands--some really expensive, and some really cheap and guess what, the cheap powders always make me feel like crap.Unfortunately, this wasn't even that cheap and it still made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I'm not willing to keep using it to get my body used to the level of quality. -So this is my body telling me I'm never ordering this brand/mix again. I'm not going to waste the container so I've been mixing it little by little with better proteins so that I can at least get my money's worth without feeling bad. If you want high-quality protein powders that aren't insanely expensive consider the following (keep in mind, it seems all powders/supplements have risen in price recently which is very unfortunate): 1. Optimum Nutrition Whey (you can get the regular or the overly expensive Hydrowhey isolate) 2. BSN Syntha-6 Edge - this one is the best tasting and has a tad more carbs than #1, but is often offered with a coupon here on Amazon so I just add it to the cart and watch the price and buy it up when it's on sale. 3. Cytosport Muscle Milk - regular Milk, or the Blend if you want isolates and slower digesting types for sustained release throughout the day. ...and that's it. Any others are pure hype or are isolates that are crazy expensive (plant only, or "organic" or whatever else will let them charge you $90 for 5lbs). They are high quality and will absorb better but taste terrible (if that's your thing). Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. Consider protein powders like reading reviews for pillows and mattresses in that the reviews will vary all over but there are some facts that can be presented to get past all the subjectivity. Cheer

Like many of you reading this, I have been lifting weights regularly since 9th grade. I am now 46 years old. I know my way around the gym and have tried dozens and dozens of supps and protein powders. I stumbled upon this one during an Amazon search after tiring of expensive clumpy products that tasted like gasoline. This was a godsend. With the right mix of water, it tastes similar to a McDonald's chocolate shake. With the right mix of skim milk, it tastes damn near exactly like a McDonald's chocolate shake. It's that good. Thick but not clumpy, easy to mix in a shaker, and goes down smooth. Not to mention I started packing muscle on again, after hitting a plateau for the last 3 years or so...This stuff works for me. I don't know why exactly, and I don't care. It tastes great and has increased my muscle mass after just a couple weeks' use. I'm a customer for life
