Discontinuing iron improves pregnancy nausea
The effectiveness of discontinuing iron-containing prenatal multivitamins on reducing the severity of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy.
Significant reduction in nausea
We explored whether stopping iron-containing prenatal multivitamins could alleviate nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. In a study involving 97 women seeking help for severe nausea, we discovered that two-thirds reported an improvement after switching to alternatives like folic acid or children's vitamins.

This significant finding, backed by both qualitative and quantitative measures, shows that avoiding iron supplements in early pregnancy may be beneficial for many women struggling with nausea.

Prenatal vitamins and nausea outcomes
Adherence and tolerability of iron-containing prenatal multivitamins in pregnant women with pre-existing gastrointestinal conditions.
Important for prenatal care options
We aimed to understand how prenatal multivitamins, particularly those containing low doses of iron, affect women with existing gastrointestinal (GI) issues during pregnancy. By comparing women with and without GI conditions, we found that those with GI issues did not have more side effects or lower adherence to taking multivitamins.

In fact, they may have experienced less severe nausea and vomiting compared to women without GI conditions. This suggests that small, low-dose iron prenatal vitamins should still be considered a viable option for pregnant women with such pre-existing conditions.

Prenatal vitamins and nausea insights
A randomized cross over trial of tolerability and compliance of a micronutrient supplement with low iron separated from calcium vs high iron combined with calcium in pregnant women [ISRCTN56071145].
High iron's adverse effects.
We examined how two different prenatal multivitamins impacted nausea in pregnant women. Our study involved 135 participants who tried both PregVit, which contains less iron, and Materna, with a higher iron level.

We found that PregVit led to lower rates of constipation, making it more tolerable for users. Interestingly, with Materna, higher nausea and vomiting were linked to lower compliance. In contrast, these issues didn’t affect how well women tolerated PregVit.

Gentle on nausea
Some gummy prenatals taste fishy and are unpleasant, especially when feeling nauseous. However, these are gentle on my stomach and did not worsen my nausea during or after pregnancy. My only complaint is that I wish there were more in a pack!

Nausea-free prenatals
These are the only prenatals that don’t trigger nausea! During my first and second trimesters, I struggled with all others, especially those with fish oil. However, I can manage to keep these down. I highly recommend them!

Nausea subsided
My wife had been struggling with terrible morning sickness during her first trimester. When we consulted her doctor, they recommended a gummy prenatal vitamin, and this product worked wonders. After trying various remedies, the nausea subsided within days of taking these vitamins. The absence of iron may have contributed to her improved condition, as it's known to exacerbate pregnancy-related nausea. Regular blood tests have shown her iron levels remain adequate. I certainly advise giving this a try if you're experiencing nausea during pregnancy.

Helps with nausea
These prenatals are amazing for the first trimester. They are easy on the stomach as they don't contain iron, which often caused me to feel sick with other capsules. I switched to these gummies and have had no issues; they taste great and help me feel reassured about my vitamin intake. Although I'm not keen on the retinyl palmitate form of vitamin A, the safe amount of 4000 IU per serving reassures me. I recommend these only for the first trimester due to the lack of iron, which is necessary later on.

No nausea experienced
These are the only prenatal vitamins that haven't caused my wife nausea. During her first pregnancy, she tried numerous varieties, but all triggered nausea. Since switching to these gummies, she has had no nausea and even enjoys their taste. However, there's a caveat: due to her gestational diabetes, taking them right after eating can spike her blood sugar, so she prefers to have them as a midday snack. Despite this, they come highly recommended.
