Hemant Kocher is a surgeon-scientist practicing in London at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. He trained in Bombay, India, and the United Kingdom, and held visiting posts in Europe and the USA. His laboratory has pioneered the evaluation of tumor-stroma interaction in pancreatic cancer, linking the pathophysiology of cancer with molecular mechanisms that underpin its aggressiveness. This has led to the discovery of novel biomarkers for diagnosing and predicting disease patterns, as well as therapeutic areas being explored in human clinical trials. He leads national bio-banking efforts along with state-of-the-art health informatics and bioinformatics to change our understanding of disease processes. Hemant has trained a number of clinical and non-clinical post-graduate students.
