I like to describe myself as a multidisciplinary microbiologist. I started my current career by working on life-threatening human pathogens through 2 medical research projects including gram-negative bacteria that cause sepsis in children, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant to carbapenems. Then a turning point in my life that switched me to study the cultured and uncultured microbiome associated with different organs of diverse crops during a 4-year postdoc fellowship at the University of Guelph, Canada. The latest projects are focused on the development of plant probiotics to improve crop production and maintain human health. In parallel to the running research projects, I deliver different courses to the pharmacy students including; biotechnology, antimicrobial chemotherapeutic agents, general microbiology, immunology, parasitology, pharmacoepidemiology, and pathology (neoplasia).
