Hosein Hosseinzadeh received his Pharma. D. degree from the School of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, IR. Iran in 1988. He was granted a scholarship from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran to continue his education toward a Ph.D. degree at the Department of Pharmacology, Glasgow, Scotland (1991-1994). After graduation in 1994, he continued his career as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, School of Pharmacy, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. He was then promoted to the position of Associate and full Professor and Distinguished Professor in 2003, 2007, and 2018, respectively. He is interested in neuropharmacology, herbal medicines, and environmental toxicology, particularly saffron and metabolic disorders. He has published over 400 review and original research papers as well as more than 20 books in the field of pharmacology, herbal medicines, and toxicology. He has several National or International honors and awards such as the National Razi prize (four times) or listed among 1% of top scientists of the World as reported by Essential Science Indicator of Thompson Reuter, ISI (In the field of pharmacology and toxicology) since 2012.
