Personal information: Name and Surname: Francesca Forini Date of birth: 16/05/1971 Address: Via Biscottino n.1/V 56121, Coltano, Pisa, Italy Education: February 2002: Ph.D. in Physiopathology of Ischemic Cardiomyopathy. Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy (magna cum lauda). July 1996: Degree in Biological Sciences, University of Pisa, Italy (magna cum lauda). Position: Researcher at Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC), CNR, Pisa; ITALY, translational cardiovascular endocrinology lab. Areas of interest: Cardiovascular cellular and molecular biomedicine, pulmonary artery hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, preclinical models, noncoding RNA. Research projects: 1) identification of thyroid hormone-dependent cardioprotective mechanisms in different in vitro and in vivo models of acute and chronic CVD. 2) Inferential high-throughput study of the molecular regulatory networks underlying the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary artery hypertension. 3) Role of thyroid hormone dyshomeostasis in the development of diabetic retinopathy. Main pathophysiological processes investigated: mitochondrial physiology, cell death, adverse cardiac remodelling, fibrosis, angiogenesis. Key modulators of interest include non-coding RNA species that are analyzed by single factor or high throughput approaches and integrated with computational methods for the identification of regulatory network.
