Dr. Athar Hussain completed his PhD in Biotechnology at NIBGE-PIEAS, Pakistan, where he conducted research in the Computational Biology Lab, MV1 group, under Prof. Dr. Shahid Mansoor's (SI) supervision. His research interests encompass multi-omics analyses, comparative genomics, metabolomics, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and protein-protein interactions, primarily emphasizing integrating multi-omics data to identify genetic markers associated with diseases. Dr. Hussain's Genomics Lab is a highly research-active unit involving undergraduate and graduate students in a wide range of multi-omics projects focused on plants, animals, and humans. He has been recognized for his academic and research contributions through numerous awards, including the Rector's Outstanding Faculty Performance Award, the Dean's Faculty Outstanding Performance Award, the HEC Best Researcher Paper Award, and best presentation awards at various national and international conferences. As a distinguished young scientist, he achieved significant recognition early in his career by securing an International Foundation for Science Research Grant during his PhD. Dr. Hussain has an exemplary record of mentoring students, many of whom have received notable honors such as the Best Research Thesis Award (UMT), Best Poster Award, and multiple national and international scholarships. He leads the Genomics & Informatics Lab team, which collaborates with international scientists, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnology firms. The team focuses on developing integrative multi-omics models to advance understanding complex biological systems and contribute to cutting-edge research in genomics and informatics.
