Head Researcher of the GC5 group at IMIBIC – Systemic and Chronic inflammatory autoimmune diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue - since 2008.
Main area of study: Genetic and molecular characterization of systemic autoimmune diseases (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Antiphospholipid Syndrome): Analysis of mechanisms underlying the development of organ damage and cardiovascular disease and identification of biomarkers of response to new therapeutic modalities.
Author of more than 130 scientific articles published in high-impact indexed journals such as Blood, Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatology, Journal of Autoimmunity, Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology or Haematologica.
Since 2008 he has been a member of the Spanish, European and American Rheumatology Societies;
Member of national and international research networks: RICORS (Networks for Cooperative Research oriented to Health Outcomes) - RD21/0002/0033) and APS action (International Consortium for the Study of Antiphospholipid Syndrome).
Project reviewer of the Wellcome Trust, the Fondo de Investigación Sanitaria, and the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva since 2006. Member of the panel of evaluators ANEP and the Junta de Andalucía -Clinical Medicine and Chronic Inflammatory Diseases areas respectively-, since 2017.
