Professor Gilberto K. K. Leung is a Clinical Professor, a neurosurgeon, and the endowed Tsang Wing-Hing Professor in Clinical Neuroscience at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He graduated from the University of London in 1992 with MBBS and BSc in Physical Anthropology. During his training in the UK, US and Hong Kong, he was awarded the Hallett Gold Medal and the J. Douglas Miller Medal in Neurosurgery by two Royal Colleges. He holds two doctorate degrees of MS and a PhD from HKU, and a LLM degree in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of Edinburgh with Distinction and the School of Law’s McLagan Prize for the Best Graduate. He currently provides clinical services as an Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. He is the Vice-President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, an Assistant Dean of his HKU Faculty, and the Region XVI (Asia-Australasian) Chief of the Advanced Trauma Life Support Programme of the American College of Surgeons. His clinical and research interests include endoscopic skull base surgery, neurotrauma, molecular biology of brain tumours, neuroregenerative therapy as well as medical education, law and ethics. He has authored/co-authored 151 peer-reviewed journal articles, 9 book chapters, 2 monographs, 117 conference papers, 46 other publications, and delivered 100 invited lectures.
