We conducted a study to evaluate how effective NPC-25, a new form of zinc, is compared to a well-known treatment, NOBELZIN™, for patients with low zinc levels. Participants in this trial had their zinc levels checked and were grouped to receive either NPC-25 or NOBELZIN™.

For a period of up to 24 weeks, we aimed to maintain their zinc levels within a specific target range while closely monitoring for side effects. One of our main goals was to see if NPC-25 could maintain these target zinc levels similarly to NOBELZIN™.

Our findings revealed that NPC-25 was indeed non-inferior to NOBELZIN™, meaning it worked just as well. Importantly, we also observed that those taking NPC-25 reported fewer digestive issues, like nausea and vomiting. This suggests that while both treatments were effective, NPC-25 might be the gentler option.

This zinc only contains the chelated form, which avoids nausea that often occurs with other types. I always take it post-meal to prevent nausea or stomach pain, which can happen on an empty stomach. I have had no adverse effects with this product.

We set out to explore how zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) could help control the bacteria responsible for food poisoning in raw chicken meat. Our approach involved integrating these nanoparticles into packaging materials to see if they could effectively inactivate Campylobacter jejuni, a common and concerning pathogen in poultry.

Through our experiments, we discovered that immobilizing ZnO NPs in functional pads placed under raw chicken could dramatically reduce bacterial counts. In fact, we saw a reduction from about 4 log CFU to an undetectable level within just three days when storing chicken at 4°C. Notably, we monitored zinc levels in the chicken meat, confirming a safe release of zinc without any migration of nanoparticles onto the food. This means that we can help keep raw chicken safe and fresh without compromising its integrity or quality.

Not only did we find that these functional pads inactivated the harmful bacteria, but we also noted a related increase in lactic acid production, which plays a role in further protecting the meat. Our findings open up new avenues for using zinc in food packaging, offering a way to enhance food safety without directly adding chemicals to the food itself. Overall, this study highlights the potential for nanotechnology to play a significant role in managing foodborne pathogens like Campylobacter in poultry products.

Unfortunately, this zinc did not suit me. I experienced mild nausea after ingestion. I previously used Zinc Glycinate from Now Foods, and this seemed even worse for me.

We explored how zinc oxide (ZnO), often used as a feed additive, affects diarrhea and gut health in piglets infected with the ETEC K88 strain. Through careful observation, we found that piglets suffering from this infection exhibited significantly increased fecal scores compared to those not affected. The ETEC K88 strain harms the small intestine, leading to a loss of villus height and a decrease in important antioxidant activities.

Our findings revealed that ZnO administration counteracts these negative effects effectively. It not only improved the overall health of the intestine but also enhanced its ability to combat oxidative stress. We also observed a balanced restoration of gut microbiota, as ZnO helped normalize the populations of certain beneficial bacteria altered by the infection.

In summary, our study indicates that ZnO can play a vital role in easing diarrhea in piglets infected with ETEC K88 by reducing intestinal damage, supporting antioxidative defenses, and restoring healthy gut flora.
