This report examines the regenerative endodontic treatment of a 7-year-old girl with acute abscesses in her immature upper incisors following dental trauma.

We used a series of disinfection methods, including zinc oxide mixed with antibiotic pastes, to treat her condition.

Over a 12-year follow-up, we observed that the treatment led to complete root formation and notable clinical success.

This case highlights the potential positive role zinc can play in managing dental abscesses in young children.

This study examined how new nano zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) cements impact tissue responses, particularly abscess formation. We implanted materials in 15 rabbits and analyzed their tissue over 30 days.

Our findings revealed that the nano formulations, ZOE-A and ZOE-B, led to less inflammation and fewer abscesses compared to traditional ZOE-K. By the end of the study, ZOE-A and ZOE-B demonstrated a notably improved response, making them potentially better options for dental applications.

Zinc may lower liver abscess rates
We aimed to find out how zinc supplementation affects liver abscess formation in steers experiencing mild acidosis. Over 109 days, we compared two diets: one with no zinc and another enriched with zinc.

While the performance and weight gain of the steers remained similar across both diets, the results indicated a trend toward fewer liver abscesses in steers receiving zinc. Specifically, only 6% developed abscesses compared to 24% in the control group.

Overall, while zinc may help reduce abscess risk, it did not significantly enhance overall cattle performance.

Reduces inflammation
Zinc is a potent antiseptic that slows the virus's growth, diminishes the inflammatory process in the body, reduces the size of nodules, cysts, and tumours in the thyroid, and helps normalise adrenal gland function.

Zinc oxide shows promise in treatments
We aimed to compare zinc oxide combined with various herbal products as filling materials in children’s dental treatments. Our study involved kids aged 4 to 8 years, where we split sixty primary molars into four groups, labeled by their mix (including neem and other options).

Over nine months, we found zinc oxide eugenol worked best, showing a 100% success rate in pain relief and absence of abscess. Other mixtures, particularly zinc with neem, also indicated good results. Thus, zinc in combination with certain herbal materials might be a viable option for treating young patients.

Promising treatment for skin abscesses
We investigated a new chitosan sponge designed to tackle skin abscesses caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. This innovative sponge, embedded with zinc oxide and a photosensitizer, has a special porous structure that absorbs wound fluids and helps control bleeding.

By applying light, the sponge not only exhibits an immediate bactericidal effect but also maintains its antibacterial properties over time. We observed that in tests with mice infected with MRSA, this sponge effectively promoted healing and recovery. Overall, this approach shows great promise for treating stubborn infections and speeding up wound recovery.
