Improved circulation
Most Useful Review
Effectively available and indispensable for health. It acts as an excellent vasodilator by removing atherosclerotic plaques, lowering cholesterol and blood sugar without any unpleasant consequences. I take it for my parents, who have benefited greatly from it. Their blood vessels have improved, reducing hypoxia as oxygen supply to tissues is restored. I also supplement with arginine, which helps relax the blood vessels. Although there may be temporary tingling and redness, this indicates effective vasodilation. They were able to discontinue antihypertensive medications, which often come with numerous side effects.

Niacin may lower osteoarthritis risk
Association between niacin intake and osteoarthritis in the US population based on NHANES 1999-2018.
Most Relevant Research
We aimed to understand the relationship between niacin intake and osteoarthritis (OA) by analyzing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey spanning from 1999 to 2018. With over 30,000 participants in the study and almost 2,000 diagnosed with osteoarthritis, we found some interesting results.

Our analysis used advanced statistical methods to explore how different levels of niacin intake affected the risk of developing OA. What we discovered was that higher niacin intake was consistently associated with a reduced risk of osteoarthritis. In fact, participants in the highest intake group had a remarkable 33% lower risk compared to those in the lowest intake group.

We also noticed that there’s a non-linear relationship; once we reach an inflection point in niacin intake, the way it impacts OA risk changes. The results were particularly striking in Non-Hispanic Black individuals and others in different racial groups.

Overall, this research suggests that by increasing the consumption of niacin-rich foods, we may be able to reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis. However, further investigations are needed to confirm these findings and explore the potential of niacin as an effective dietary approach to OA prevention and treatment.

Nicotinamide shows limited effectiveness
The Role of Nicotinamide as Chemo-Preventive Agent in NMSCs: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated the effectiveness of nicotinamide, the active form of vitamin B3, in reducing skin cancers, particularly non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs). Our exploration included a systematic review of available literature, analyzing data from studies that assessed the potential benefits of oral nicotinamide among high-risk patients, including those with compromised immune systems.

After sifting through 225 studies, we found only four met our criteria for inclusion. The results were clear: there was no significant association between nicotinamide intake and a reduced risk of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) or basal cell carcinoma (BCC). The statistics showed a rate ratio for SCC at 0.81 and for BCC at 0.88, which indicates no substantial benefit.

Although adverse effects from nicotinamide treatment were rare and manageable, the evidence points towards an insufficient impact of oral nicotinamide therapy on reducing keratinocyte cancers. It’s important to communicate that, while our findings are thorough, they highlight the need for more research. Overall, the use of dietary niacin intake also showed only a potential benefit related to SCC, but no effect on BCC or melanoma.

Enhanced mental health
Most Useful Review
Niacin has completely cured my sleep disorder and depression. I had been on sleeping pills for over ten years, but now I have ceased taking them and can now sleep anywhere, anytime. I continue taking niacin even though I have improved. I have become accustomed to it and rarely experience niacin flush, although I do take it after meals to avoid discomfort. Even with a daily intake of 1-2 tablets, it lasts for 3-4 months, making it excellent value. Additionally, I feel my skin is becoming clearer.

Niacinamide enhances acne treatment
Nicotinic acid/niacinamide and the skin.
Most Relevant Research
We examined how niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, impacts acne and similar skin issues. This included looking at its potential to soothe inflammatory conditions like acne and rosacea.

Our findings suggest that niacinamide has several benefits for the skin. It helps strengthen the epidermal barrier, which means it can reduce water loss and keep the skin hydrated. Additionally, niacinamide encourages the production of proteins like keratin and supports the synthesis of important fats known as ceramides.

Not only does niacinamide contribute to healthy skin, but it also works to improve surface texture and diminish the appearance of fine lines as we age. Importantly for acne sufferers, niacinamide shows promise in providing anti-inflammatory effects, making it a potential game-changer for those battling breakouts.

By incorporating niacinamide into skincare routines, individuals may see improvements in acne and overall skin health. Given its wide-ranging benefits, it's worth considering for anyone dealing with skin that is prone to issues.

Significantly clearer
Most Useful Review
I adore this niacinamide! I experience severe bacne from workouts, and after my dermatologist recommended it, my back cleared significantly in three weeks. My face is also much clearer; I previously had painful cystic acne, but none has emerged with this treatment. I subscribed after forgetting to order it once, leading to a recurrence of my acne. As someone with fair skin, I appreciate any help I can get to prevent skin cancer. Highly recommend!

Niacin helps reduce anxiety symptoms
Antioxidant and neuro-modulatory effects of niacin prevent D-galactose-induced behavioral deficits and memory impairment.
Most Relevant Research
We evaluated the impact of niacin on anxiety and memory loss by examining its effects in male rats exposed to D-galactose, a chemical known to induce behavioral deficits. In our study, we divided the animals into six groups, with some receiving niacin at different doses (25 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg) and others being treated with D-galactose.

Over a two-week period, we observed how niacin influenced their behavior in various tests designed to measure anxiety and depression. After administering niacin, we found that it significantly reduced the anxiety and depressive symptoms that had developed due to D-galactose. This was particularly encouraging as niacin also appeared to support memory function in the rats, showing promise for addressing cognitive decline.

Biochemically, niacin treatment helped restore levels of antioxidant enzymes and neurotransmitters affected by D-galactose, demonstrating its potential to combat oxidative stress and inflammation. Our findings suggest that niacin can act as both an antioxidant and a neuromodulator, offering a valuable approach for treating anxiety and associated cognitive impairments in aging.

Niacin aids in leukemia treatment
Rapamycin and Niacin combination induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest through autophagy activation on acute myeloid leukemia cells.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated how the combination of Niacin and Rapamycin affects the growth of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. By conducting a series of experiments on two AML cell lines, THP-1 and NB4, we aimed to see if this duo could meaningfully target cancer cells.

Our findings showed that when used together, Rapamycin and Niacin significantly lowered the viability of the leukemia cells. Specifically, we observed notable increases in cell death, with THP-1 cells experiencing nearly five times more apoptosis, and NB4 cells showing a 7.3-fold increase. The combination treatment also caused a distinct halt in the cell cycle, meaning the cancer cells were not able to continue growing.

Additionally, we noted changes in various proteins linked to autophagy, a process that can help cells maintain balance. While there’s much to be understood, our results suggest that this combination of Niacin and Rapamycin may enhance the fight against AML by promoting cell death and disrupting the cell cycle.

Ultimately, this study highlights the potential of using a natural product like Niacin in a blend with traditional treatments like Rapamycin to combat cancer. However, further research is needed to fully understand the implications of these findings.

I take this nightly, and I've noticed a significant improvement in my sleep quality. I feel more refreshed in the morning. The slow-melting formulation may cause flushes after a while, so for those uncertain, it might be beneficial to start with smaller pieces. This product is also affordable.

No flushing niacin
Most Useful Review
Need to take Niacin and hate the flushing? This is the solution. If you’re familiar with Niacin, you know the "NON FLUSHING" variety isn't effective for cholesterol. The flushing can be overwhelming, causing many to avoid it. I found this product at a better price with the same dosage, and I have experienced no flushing when taking it, which hasn't disrupted my sleep. I definitely recommend it.
