We examined the effects of vitamin E on atherosclerosis in the cerebellum of rabbits. In this study, forty rabbits were split into four groups, where specific groups received vitamin E alongside regular diets or added cholesterol.

The results revealed that cholesterol-treated rabbits experienced significant damage, evident through decreased fiber density and changes in brain cell structure. Surprisingly, while vitamin E showed some protective traits by reducing these changes, its overall impact on atherosclerosis was inconclusive.

We investigated the effects of a daily dose of 300 mg vitamin E for treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). In our study, 124 non-diabetic individuals were randomly assigned to either vitamin E or a placebo.

The results showed that 29.3% of those on vitamin E had improvements in liver histology, compared to just 14.1% in the placebo group. While we saw significant benefits in liver conditions like steatosis and inflammation, 12 serious adverse events were reported, although they weren’t linked to the treatment.

Overall, our findings indicate that vitamin E may offer meaningful improvements in liver health for those with MASH.

We aimed to explore how pure tocotrienol (T3), a form of vitamin E, might help in fighting atherosclerosis, a condition often linked to high cholesterol. In our study, 30 rabbits were fed high-cholesterol diets and then divided into groups receiving different doses of T3 or a control without T3.

The results were promising, showing that the lower and higher doses of T3 significantly reduced atherosclerotic markers and inflammation in early and established atherosclerosis compared to the control group. This suggests that T3 may play a valuable role alongside standard treatments in preventing coronary artery disease.

We conducted a study with eighty-four postmenopausal women to see how vitamin E affects hot flashes, among other health markers. The participants were divided into three groups and received either Vitamin E, Curcumin, or a placebo for eight weeks.

Our findings revealed that vitamin E significantly reduced the frequency of hot flashes by nearly one-third compared to those taking the placebo. This reduction was accompanied by improvements in several health indicators, including lower serum triglyceride levels and enhanced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

Furthermore, vitamin E also showed positive effects on liver health markers. Overall, it appears that vitamin E is effective not only in alleviating hot flashes but also in improving some aspects of the lipid profile in postmenopausal women, without adverse effects on liver or kidney function.

We investigated the impact of vitamin E on treating frequent and severe nocturnal leg cramps. Patients received 100 I.U. of d, alpha-tocopheryl acetate three times daily before meals.

Remarkably, nearly all participants reported prompt relief from their symptoms. This group included 24 patients with leg cramps and a couple with "restless legs" syndrome.

Given that nocturnal leg cramps can be distressing and treatments are often unsatisfactory, these findings are particularly noteworthy.

We took a closer look at how vitamin E might help women suffering from menstrual migraines. In a double-blinded, placebo-controlled study with 72 participants, we compared the effects of vitamin E against a placebo over several months.

Women reported less functional disability during this treatment. Overall, it appears that vitamin E could be a helpful option for managing menstrual migraines.

We investigated whether vitamin E could help with primary dysmenorrhea, a common cause of pelvic pain for young women. In our study, 278 girls aged 15-17 took either vitamin E or a placebo before and during their menstrual periods.

Results showed that those taking vitamin E experienced significantly less pain and shorter pain duration compared to the placebo group. There was also a notable reduction in menstrual blood loss. This suggests that vitamin E may be a beneficial option for managing menstrual discomfort.

We explored the effectiveness of vitamin E alongside isotretinoin, a common treatment for severe acne. In an investigator-blinded, randomized study involving 82 patients, participants were divided into two groups. One group received isotretinoin alone, while the other combined it with 800 IU of vitamin E, over a period of 16 weeks.

Our main goal was to determine whether vitamin E could reduce the side-effects associated with isotretinoin, which are often bothersome for patients. Throughout the study, we assessed various mucocutaneous side effects, such as facial dryness and redness, as well as changes in serum lipid and liver enzyme levels.

Ultimately, we found no significant difference in the incidence or severity of side effects between the two treatment groups. This indicates that vitamin E did not provide any noticeable benefit when added to isotretinoin therapy for acne vulgaris.

While vitamin E is often suggested as a remedy to lighten the side effects of medications, our findings suggest that its use alongside isotretinoin may not be helpful.

We investigated how long-term exposure to urban air pollution affects the recovery from ischemic stroke in mice. Our findings showed that breathing in fine particulate matter increases neuroinflammation and cardiac injury, leading to higher mortality rates after a stroke.

Interestingly, incorporating a vitamin E-rich diet helped reduce cardiac damage and lung inflammation caused by this exposure. We saw a noteworthy improvement in survival rates among mice with ischemic strokes who received the vitamin E, highlighting its potential protective effects against the dangers of urban air pollution.

Vitamin E prolongs youth and beauty as it contains multiple tocopherols, with α-tocopherol being the most active. This powerful antioxidant stabilises cell membranes and interacts with vitamin C. We explored the effects of vitamin E supplementation on patients with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS), particularly focusing on symptoms like eczema. In a three-year study, six patients who were already on dietary cholesterol treatment received vitamin E. Their vitamin E levels were initially low, but following supplementation, all patients showed a significant increase in plasma vitamin E concentrations.

Among the various symptoms assessed, including aggression, irritability, and skin issues like eczema, some patients reported improvements. Our findings indicated that three out of the six patients experienced a reduction in symptoms, including skin photosensitivity and eczema. Notably, those who responded best to therapy had lower baseline ratios of certain cholesterol-related compounds.

While the study suggests that vitamin E could provide benefits to SLOS patients—possibly contributing to improvements in skin conditions like eczema—individual responses varied. Thus, vitamin E supplementation may be worth considering in the management of SLOS, especially for those with low initial vitamin E levels and certain biochemical markers.

We explored the potential of a specially designed nanoemulsion containing vitamin E to address the symptoms of atopic dermatitis (AD), a chronic skin condition that significantly impacts quality of life. In this study, the formulation, named PV-NE, aimed to balance the immune system and reduce inflammation characterized by the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are linked to worsening allergic reactions.

Through our research, we noted that while PV-NE demonstrated effectiveness in restoring immune balance and alleviating symptoms like itching and skin irritation, it did not isolate the effects of vitamin E specifically on allergies. Instead, the focus was on how the combination worked as a whole. This means that while vitamin E plays a role in the treatment via the nanoemulsion, we can't conclusively say it effectively treats allergies when considered on its own.

Ultimately, our findings establish a foundation for further exploration of vitamin E's contributions within broader therapeutic systems, indicating its biocompatibility and importance in future treatments for AD and potentially other allergies.

We examined how vitamin E affects common cold incidence among different groups. In our study involving over 14,500 participants, we found that older smokers living in cities benefited from vitamin E, showing a 46% reduction in cold risk.

In contrast, those who smoked more and lived in rural areas faced a higher cold risk with vitamin E intake. This suggests that vitamin E's impact can vary greatly based on age, smoking habits, and where one lives, indicating the need for cautious public health guidelines regarding vitamin E supplementation.
