We examined whether probiotics and digestive enzymes could ease gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort after gastric bypass surgery. In a double-blind, randomized trial with 60 patients, we found that both treatments notably improved symptoms like heartburn, gas, and bloating within two weeks. The quality of life, measured by the modified Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index (mGIQLI), showed positive changes overall. Thus, it seems that using probiotics or digestive enzymes can provide relief after surgery, leading to a better initial recovery experience.

We evaluated pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) that uses microencapsulated pancreatin in enhancing nutritional status among patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI).

This study included 58 participants, split into two groups based on their nutritional status. Over 8-12 months, both groups received the therapy while we assessed changes in body weight, BMI, and laboratory indicators of nutrition before and after treatment.

Impressively, we found that PERT effectively improved nutritional status in patients suffering from CP.

We conducted a randomized double-blind trial to see if pancreatin could help prevent weight loss in patients with unresectable cancer of the pancreatic head region.

Over eight weeks, 21 patients received either pancreatin or a placebo, alongside dietary counseling.

We investigated how spasmocanulase could help those struggling with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), particularly focusing on symptoms like bloating. In a clinic in Riyadh, 21 patients who had not found relief with other medications were given spasmocanulase three times a day for six months.
