Tumeric

Curcumin nanoparticles show promise
Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Curcumin-Based Nanoparticles Containing α-Linolenic Acid in a Model of Psoriasis In Vitro.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated how Curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, may help manage psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin condition. Our research focused on the effects of Curcumin-based nanoparticles combined with alpha-linolenic acid (a type of omega-3 fatty acid) in an in vitro model. This model included macrophages and keratinocytes, allowing us to simulate the inflammatory responses typical of psoriasis.

In our experiments, we found that these nanoparticles significantly reduced the expression of key inflammatory proteins in macrophages and improved the health of keratinocytes. Specifically, we saw a notable decrease in the cytokines IL-23, IL-8, and IL-6, which are often elevated in psoriasis. In keratinocytes, the treatment decreased cell death and repressed markers of ferroptosis, a recently identified process involved in psoriasis.

These promising results suggest that Curcumin-based nanoparticles could serve as a new strategy in treating psoriasis. However, more research is needed to explore their effectiveness in real-world applications before they can be recommended as a topical treatment.

Vitamins

Vitamin D3 ethosomes for psoriasis
Synthesis of vitamin D3 loaded ethosomes gel to cure chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease: physical characterization, in vitro and ex vivo studies.
Most Relevant Research
We aimed to explore the effectiveness of a special gel infused with vitamin D3, known as an ethosome, in managing psoriasis. This inflammatory skin condition is driven by an overactive immune response, and vitamin D3 plays a crucial role in the growth and development of skin cells called keratinocytes, making it a promising treatment option.

In our research, we created formulas containing different amounts of soya lecithin, propylene glycol, and ethanol to optimize the ethosome gel. After careful testing, we found that these ethosomes had a remarkable drug encapsulation efficiency of 96.25%. They ranged in size from about 148 to 657 nanometers, showing a stable, negatively charged profile that suggests they are safe for use.

Further analyses confirmed that the ethosome gel effectively delivered vitamin D3 through the skin and maintained its stability over six months. The results indicated that an impressive percentage of the medication penetrated the skin barrier, which is essential for its effectiveness in treating psoriasis flare-ups. Our findings suggest that the ethosome formulation enhances the therapeutic potential of vitamin D3, offering a promising avenue for treating patients with psoriasis.

Improved immunity
Most Useful Review
In general, the role of vitamin D in the body is significant. Vitamin D is essential for everyone, especially since sunlight alone does not prevent deficiency. It is swiftly excreted and involved in various metabolic processes. Vitamin D helps strengthen the immune system, aiding in the fight against Covid-19 and reducing the likelihood of autoimmune diseases. I believe it has contributed to my psoriasis improvement.

Zinc

7
Zinc inhibits inflammatory responses
Zinc homeostasis regulates caspase activity and inflammasome activation.
Most Relevant Research
We explored the impact of zinc on psoriasis, a condition often linked with inflammation and immune response. Our attention was drawn to zinc's ability to inhibit inflammasome activation, which can trigger harmful cell death and excessive inflammation.

In particular, we noted how zinc functions as a crucial player in regulating immune responses. By targeting a protein involved in zinc export, called SLC30A1, we observed that increasing zinc levels inside cells could inhibit the activity of caspases, enzymes that play a role in inflammation. This inhibition appears to limit the severity of inflammatory responses, making zinc a potential ally in managing psoriasis and similar conditions.

Interestingly, zinc supplementation showed promise in alleviating symptoms among those with psoriasis, alongside benefits for other inflammatory diseases like sepsis and Alzheimer’s. Although zinc may enhance treatment efficacy, we should remain cautious as the specific benefits for psoriasis treatment relative to other therapies need further clarification.

Overall, zinc emerges as a valuable option worth considering in our approach to treating conditions that involve inflammasome overactivation, including psoriasis.

Restored sense smell
Most Useful Review
Magic zinc! Zinc is essential for strengthening the immune system, cell renewal, protein synthesis, collagen formation, and addressing skin issues like psoriasis and acne. After taking zinc picolinate for a month and a half, I noticed remarkable changes: my hair stopped shedding, skin cleared up entirely, and my sense of smell returned after losing it due to Covid. I highly recommend this supplement!

Reduced infections
Most Useful Review
Adequate intake of vitamin D3 lowers the incidence of acute respiratory infections, while deficiency increases illness risk and autoimmune conditions like psoriasis. Insufficient cholecalciferol also affects insulin secretion. This supply lasts 120 days and is cost-effective.

Fish Oil

EPA benefits psoriatic skin health
Eicosapentaenoic Acid Influences the Lipid Profile of an In Vitro Psoriatic Skin Model Produced with T Cells.
Most Relevant Research
We aimed to understand how eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) affects psoriasis, a skin condition known for causing redness, irritation, and thickened skin. By creating skin models that reflect both healthy and psoriatic conditions, we were able to assess the impact of EPA directly on lipid profiles—a key factor in skin health.

Our research revealed that in psoriatic skin models, there was a notable increase in certain fatty acids linked to inflammation, such as arachidonic acid (AA) and linoleic acid (LA). However, when we supplemented the media with EPA, we noticed a significant shift. The levels of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), rose in both epidermal and dermal tissues.

More importantly, the addition of EPA helped to balance the production of lipid mediators in the skin. We observed increases in several anti-inflammatory molecules, such as prostaglandin E (PGE) and 12-hydroxyeicosapentaenoic acid (12-HEPE), indicating a move toward a more stable and healthier skin environment. These results suggest that EPA could play an important role in managing psoriasis by promoting a healthier lipid balance in the skin, potentially easing symptoms and encouraging skin healing.

I tried this Omega for the first time and noticed results in just ten days. Previously, I used a Russian brand that was ineffective. My psoriasis has improved; the skin on my hands is smoother, and the cracks are healing. I’ve purchased a large jar since the quality is excellent, and my mother, who is hypertensive, found it beneficial too.
