Vitamin D boosts shingles immunity
Serum vitamin D levels are positively associated with varicella zoster immunity in chronic dialysis patients.
We explored the connection between vitamin D levels and immunity to varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which causes shingles, in patients undergoing chronic dialysis. Recognizing that these patients often have weakened immune systems, we set out to see if vitamin D could play a vital role in boosting their immunity.
In a multicenter study involving 88 hemodialysis patients, we measured various vitamin D parameters in their blood and assessed their VZV immunity through specific antibody tests. The results were telling: patients with a vitamin D level of less than 30 ng/ml had significantly lower levels of VZV-specific IgG antibodies compared to those who had sufficient vitamin D. This difference became more pronounced when focusing on patients who were actively using vitamin D supplements.
We found that having a higher level of vitamin D was associated with increased immunity against VZV, highlighting a potential link between vitamin D treatments and shingles prevention. Our findings suggest that boosting vitamin D in chronic dialysis patients could be an effective strategy to enhance their immune response to shingles and, potentially, improve their overall health. However, patients with cancer in the study exhibited lower VZV immunity, indicating that other factors could also influence results.

Healed quickly
Most Useful Review
Classic item that I would be in trouble without. I have taken it many times; it’s a large capsule, but very effective. Before taking it, I often suffered from mouth ulcers when tired. Since I started, I’ve been feeling better. It’s an essential supplement for me, and I intend to continue usage. It helped me heal quickly when I had Shingles or caught a cold.
Reduced nerve pain
Most Useful Review
A great aid in alleviating nerve pain, Vitamin B6 and B12 significantly reduce discomfort, whether from sciatica or the side effects of Shingles. My doctor recommended I take a Vitamin B complex rather than just B6/B12. It’s effective and reasonably priced.

Lysine improves herpes symptoms
Subjective response to lysine in the therapy of herpes simplex.
We explored the effectiveness of lysine supplementation in treating herpes infections through a survey of 1,543 participants after a six-month trial. The findings revealed that a substantial 84% reported that lysine helped prevent recurrences or reduced the frequency of outbreaks.
Notably, only 8% of users described their symptoms as severe while taking lysine, compared to 79% who felt that way without it. Healing times improved significantly; 83% felt lesions healed in five days or less with lysine, while 90% said healing took longer without it. Overall, 88% regarded lysine as an effective treatment.
Highly effective product

I’ve used this product for years, particularly for Shingles and any herpes outbreaks. It’s excellent, and I highly recommend keeping it in my medicine cabinet.

Remarkable results

Having suffered from herpes Zoster since 2010 with multiple flare-ups yearly, I started taking Lysine on the second day of an exacerbation and was astonished! The redness vanished by evening, and the blisters were gone by morning. After increasing my dosage, there have been no symptoms for a month—I'm grateful for this remedy!

Meta-analysis confirms B12 reduces shingles nerve pain
Vitamin B12 for herpetic neuralgia: A meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
Researchers analyzed four randomized controlled trials involving 383 participants to determine whether vitamin B12 could help relieve postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)—the painful nerve condition that sometimes follows shingles. The results were encouraging: patients receiving B12 experienced significantly greater pain reduction compared to those taking placebo, with improvements also seen in quality of life and reduced need for pain medications.
While these findings suggest B12 could serve as a valuable complementary treatment for PHN, the researchers emphasized that more research is needed before making definitive clinical recommendations.

At 50, I wasn't aware my immune system had weakened, leading to Shingles. I experienced persistent neuralgia that hindered daily life. I was prescribed vitamin B12, Methycobal, along with antiviral medication. After discovering this product on iHerb, I bought it immediately after reading reviews praising its efficacy against neuralgia. Thankfully, it has alleviated my symptoms. The small lozenge has a pleasant berry and cherry flavour, and I took one after each meal. I highly recommend it.

Methyl cobalamin is essential to take for at least a week when shingles occur. It's the only substance that repairs nerve coverings, and I keep some on hand. It works as effectively as a B12 injection, at a mere ten pence per dose.

The improvement in my neuralgia has been remarkable, and the value for money is high! Although my shingles was cured not long ago, I still suffered from neuralgia. I searched for this bottle of active vitamin B12, opting for it because it contains no magnesium stearate or silicon dioxide. Additionally, the capsules are small and easy to swallow. After taking them for over a month, the torment of the sequelae neuralgia has noticeably decreased.

Pain relief achieved

This helped me alleviate the pain from herpes zoster shingles. I recommended it to others, and it worked for them as well. When the symptoms subside, it's important to wean yourself off gradually to remain pain-free. I initially took two pills twice daily, then reduced to one pill twice daily, and eventually down to once a day after a month.
