Milk Thistle Silymarin

Silymarin protects tissues without lowering glucose
We set out to see how silymarin (SMN) could help rats suffering from type 1 diabetes, particularly focusing on the liver and pancreas. In this study, we treated diabetic rats with SMN over 30 days while comparing them to control groups.

Although we noticed that silymarin significantly reduced signs of protein damage in the liver and pancreas, as well as improved renal function, it didn’t help lower blood glucose levels or enhance pancreatic beta-cell function. Overall, this suggests that while silymarin shows promise in protecting pancreatic and liver health, it doesn’t affect blood sugar levels in diabetic conditions.

Liver says thank you! Prescribed by a sports doctor, confirmed by three others. I am a professional sportsman and have chronic pancreatitis. I took numerous medications, but Silymarin truly saved me. Although I didn’t follow the dosage strictly—two tablets three times daily—I feel fantastic. It has greatly benefited my health.

Pancreatin

We examined the case of a 50-year-old man dealing with chronic pancreatitis who developed pancreatic diabetes after surgery. His treatment included insulin along with pancreatin and essential micronutrients.

Remarkably, we observed improvements in his diarrhea and blood glucose levels. This case highlights the importance of recognizing pancreatic diabetes that can emerge after pancreatitis or pancreatic surgery, suggesting that timely intervention can help mitigate complications.

However, it's essential to note that while pancreatin played a role in managing symptoms, it was part of a broader treatment approach.

I want to leave a review about pancreatin. This is from my sister, who has chronic pancreatitis and has suffered from considerable pain and discomfort lately. She believes pancreatin is much more effective than Creon; she felt much better, experiencing no bloating or heaviness after meals. Although heartburn had previously tormented her, if you lack pancreatic enzymes, you might consider replacing Creon with pancreatin after consulting your doctor. Good health to all!

I have been taking these enzymes for about a year to manage my pancreatitis. My digestion has gradually improved, with no more flare-ups, even though I don’t adhere strictly to a diet anymore. I just avoid grapes and figs. I also recommend them to friends with similar pancreatic and gastritis issues, and they report satisfaction with the results.

From my own experience, this supplement is particularly beneficial for preventing exacerbations in chronic pancreatitis. It allows me to eat nearly anything in remission without straining my pancreas. I take it after meals and am careful about the dosage, which improves my overall quality of life. It’s also suitable for vegetarians!

We take selenium as a family, mainly for thyroid health, but it's beneficial for other areas as well. In acute pancreatitis, 400 mg of selenium significantly eases an attack.

Selenium has been shown to enhance the antioxidant defence, improving skin and hair conditions. It positively impacts various conditions, including hepatitis and pancreatitis, and supports overall health. An adult's daily intake should be 70-100 mcg, with adjustments during pregnancy.
