Effects of repeated oral intake of a quercetin-containing supplement on allergic reaction: a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind parallel-group study.
We conducted a 4-week study to assess how a quercetin-containing supplement could help relieve allergy symptoms, particularly for those suffering from eye and nose discomfort.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled setup, 66 participants ingested either 200 mg of quercetin or a placebo daily.
We found that those taking quercetin experienced notable improvements in symptoms like eye itching and sneezing, leading to a better overall quality of life. Minor side effects were reported, but they were not significant enough to detract from the benefits observed.

Quercetin shows promise in conjunctivitis
Quercetin as a Lyn kinase inhibitor inhibits IgE-mediated allergic conjunctivitis.
We explored the role of quercetin in managing allergic conjunctivitis through studies involving animal models and human mast cells. Our findings revealed that quercetin successfully reduced key inflammatory markers related to allergic conjunctivitis, such as IgE and other inflammatory substances.
It also inhibited inflammation pathways, showcasing its potential as a Lyn kinase inhibitor. However, while these results are promising, further research is needed to fully understand the practical applications of quercetin in treating this common eye condition.

Quercetin alleviates eye allergy symptoms
Preventative effect of a flavonoid, enzymatically modified isoquercitrin on ocular symptoms of Japanese cedar pollinosis.
We explored how enzymatically modified isoquercitrin (EMIQ), a quercetin-based flavonoid, can alleviate eye symptoms linked to Japanese cedar pollinosis. In a rigorous study involving 24 participants and a placebo, we found that those taking EMIQ experienced significantly fewer ocular symptoms compared to the placebo group over eight weeks. While some scores showed trends towards improvement, including itching and watering, they didn’t meet statistical significance. Overall, EMIQ appeared beneficial for managing eye-related allergy symptoms, though it did not dramatically affect overall nasal symptoms or IgE levels.

Effective antihistamine
1 people found this helpful
Excellent! It effectively relieves allergies and swelling associated with rhinitis and conjunctivitis, while also reducing inflammation. I find it has a good antihistamine effect without causing drowsiness. I take one capsule after meals, as drinking on an empty stomach worsens my gastritis. A reliable medication.

Reduced symptoms
After using this drug post-COVID, I now take it a couple of times a year. I used to suffer from periodic allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, but now these occurrences are minimal, likely helped by other medications as well.

I used this during allergy season, and everything went surprisingly well without the usual conjunctivitis or rhinitis. It genuinely helps, even though I was initially sceptical about its effectiveness.
