CoQ10 may improve heart failure symptoms
Italian multicenter study on the safety and efficacy of coenzyme Q10 as adjunctive therapy in heart failure. CoQ10 Drug Surveillance Investigators.
Moderate relevance to reflux treatment
We investigated the role of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) as a supplementary treatment for patients suffering from congestive heart failure, particularly focusing on its impact on reflux symptoms. In this study, we enrolled 2,664 patients across 173 centers in Italy, all of whom were already on standard heart failure treatments. Over three months, participants took daily doses of CoQ10 ranging from 50 to 150 mg, with most having 100 mg.

At the end of the three-month period, we recorded various clinical symptoms. Notably, among patients experiencing reflux, 71.81% reported some level of improvement. This suggests that CoQ10 could offer additional benefits when it comes to managing reflux as a symptom of heart failure.

While we observed favorable trends, we also noted that the improvements could not be solely attributed to CoQ10, given that patients continued their standard treatments. The low rate of side effects, with only 1.5% experiencing adverse reactions, adds to the treatment's appeal. Overall, this study indicates that CoQ10 might enhance quality of life for heart failure patients, including those with reflux symptoms.

Terrible nausea
I experienced terrible nausea with this product, making it hard to assess its effectiveness. As someone with occasional reflux and heartburn, I suspect the BioPerine is to blame, so those with a sensitive stomach might prefer CoQ10 without it.

Causes reflux
This caused acid reflux for me, prompting a return to my preferred brand. I also noticed that IHerb has been slow in processing orders, often delaying for a week or more.

Not suitable
Not suitable for me; it caused an attack of reflux oesophagitis, possibly due to the presence of pepper (Bioperine).
