Vitamin B12 enhances acupuncture effects
[Observation of therapeutic effects on cervical vertigo treated with different methods].
Combination effects on vertigo assessed
We explored the effectiveness of various treatments for cervical vertigo, specifically focusing on different acupuncture methods and the inclusion of Vitamin B12 in one of the therapy combinations. In our study, ninety-one participants were divided into three groups: one receiving routine acupuncture, another using electroacupuncture, and a third receiving a combination of electroacupuncture and Vitamin B12 injections along with local anesthetics.

Each therapy was administered over twenty sessions within a month. We measured changes in blood flow in the vertebral and basilar arteries and evaluated the participants' symptoms and overall function related to their vertigo. While all treatment methods showed some positive effects, the combination therapy, which included Vitamin B12, stood out as being the most effective.

This suggests that Vitamin B12 might play a significant role alongside acupuncture methods in treating cervical vertigo. However, it’s important to note that the specific impact of Vitamin B12 alone wasn’t isolated in this study, leaving us to consider its effects within the broader context of combined therapies.

Vitamin B12's limited effect on vertigo
Treatment of hydropic patients by immunoglobulin with methyl B12.
Evaluated B12's combined effects
We explored the potential effects of combining methyl B12 with immunoglobulin G for treating patients with endolymphatic hydrops, a condition often linked to vertigo and tinnitus. Our investigation was inspired by recent findings suggesting that an immune dysfunction might contribute to the issues within the endolymphatic space.

For initial treatments, we typically recommend a mix of prednisolone and furosemide, which is both safe and effective for many patients in the subacute stage. However, some individuals don't respond to this treatment or gradually develop resistance to it.

For those who did not improve with standard care, we turned to intravenous administration of immunoglobulin G paired with methyl B12, hoping it would address specific immune deficiencies. While our results indicated some positive changes in hearing for those contributing to this treatment, we noted that symptoms like vertigo and tinnitus did not show significant improvement.

In conclusion, while the combination treatment appeared beneficial for hearing, it unfortunately didn't significantly relieve vertigo or tinnitus symptoms as we had hoped.

Case study on vertigo treatment
Successive occurrence of vertebrobasilar dolichectasia induced trigeminal neuralgia, vestibular paroxysmia and hemifacial spasm: A case report.
Relevance of vitamin B12 assessed
We observed an intriguing case involving a 66-year-old woman who experienced severe episodes of vertigo alongside trigeminal neuralgia and vestibular paroxysmia due to vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia. The treatment regimen included vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin), along with other medications like carbamazepine and vitamin B1.

Remarkably, after just seven days of this treatment, the patient reported complete relief from paroxysmal vertigo and trigeminal neuralgia symptoms. However, it’s worth noting that while the initial results were positive, occasional episodes continued to occur during follow-up.

Five months later, the patient experienced a new condition—right hemifacial spasm—which she chose not to treat since it did not impact her quality of life. Ultimately, her story illustrates the complex relationship between vitamin B12 supplementation and symptom management in conditions linked to vertigo, although further research is essential to fully understand these effects.

Vitamin B12's role in recovery
A nitrous oxide abuser presenting with cerebral venous thrombosis: A case report.
Moderate relevance due to complexity
We observed the case of a young man who faced severe headache and vertigo, drawing attention to the complex relationship between vitamin B12 deficiency and vertigo. This patient had a history of nitrous oxide abuse, leading to his vitamin B12 deficiency.

Following thorough examinations and imaging, the patient was diagnosed with cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (CSVT). Alongside anticoagulation treatment, he received vitamin B12 supplementation to address his deficiency.

Interestingly, after starting treatment, the patient's vertigo improved as did his headache symptoms. While it's clear the vitamin B12 played a role in his recovery, it's important to note that he also received several other treatments at the same time. Therefore, we cannot conclusively assess the specific impact of vitamin B12 on vertigo in this instance.

Overall, this case highlights the need for further exploration into the specific effects of vitamin B12 supplementation on vertigo, especially in patients with underlying causes such as thrombosis.

Mecobalamin's impact on vertigo symptoms
Efficacy and safety of mecobalamin combined with vestibular rehabilitation training for acute vestibular neuritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Study assesses vitamin B12's role
We explored the effectiveness of mecobalamin, a form of vitamin B12, in conjunction with vestibular rehabilitation training for treating acute vestibular neuritis, a condition characterized by sudden vertigo. Through a thorough review of multiple studies, we found that combining mecobalamin with rehabilitation exercises has the potential to alleviate symptoms such as dizziness and improve overall balance.

However, our analysis indicated mixed results. While there was a significant reduction in dizziness handicap inventory scores in the group receiving mecobalamin compared to the control group, other measures such as balance confidence scores did not show significant differences. This suggests that although vitamin B12 treatment might help some patients manage their symptoms better, it cannot be determined whether it is the mecobalamin alone or the rehabilitation exercises that play a more crucial role.

In summary, mecobalamin, when paired with vestibular rehabilitation, appears to be a safe option that may enhance recovery from vertigo symptoms, yet the exact impact of vitamin B12 remains unclear without isolating its effects from rehabilitation practices.

Vitamin B12 impact unclear
[Treatment outcome of patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss and concomitant benign paroxysmal positional vertigo].
Limited significance of findings.
We examined the treatment outcomes for patients experiencing idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) and concurrent benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). In this study, patients received a combination of intravenous medicines, including a urokinase infusion and vitamins, intended to address both hearing and vertigo symptoms.

While exploring the role of vitamin B12 within this treatment framework, we noted that it was administered alongside other medications. Unfortunately, this limits our ability to determine the specific impact of vitamin B12 on vertigo symptoms.

What we did observe is that patients with ISSHL who also had BPPV experienced a complete resolution of their vertigo after a specific repositioning maneuver. In terms of hearing improvement, those without vertigo had similar outcomes to those with BPPV but performed significantly better than those suffering from non-BPPV related vertigo. Thus, while vitamin B12 was included in the treatment plan, we cannot conclude that it had a distinct effect on vertigo based solely on this study.
