However, when it comes to Hypertension the relationship between Iron levels and its effect on blood pressure remains somewhat controversial in the current medical research. Some studies suggest that increased Iron levels may contribute to Hypertension development, while others propose that Iron deficiency could potentially lead to high blood pressure.
Research investigating the link between Iron and Hypertension has produced conflicting results. On one hand, a study published in the American Journal of Hypertension in 2015 reported that elevated Iron levels were associated with an increased risk of developing Hypertension in women. Another study published in the European Journal of Nutrition in 2017 indicated that Iron supplementation in iron-deficient individuals improved blood pressure levels. Conversely, a study published in the Journal of Hypertension in 2020 found no significant association between Iron levels and Hypertension in a large population-based study.
