Turmeric curcumin reduces mucositis symptoms
We examined how different forms of turmeric curcumin could help ease oral mucositis symptoms in patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This systematic review and meta-analysis included randomized clinical trials aligned with PRISMA guidelines, focusing on studies that measured severity and pain associated with oral mucositis against a placebo.

Our findings suggest that curcumin, in various formulations, does show effectiveness in reducing both the severity of symptoms and associated pain. Additionally, a curcumin mouthwash was found to lower the incidence of oral mucositis.

We explored the potential of tetrahydrocurcumin as a cancer-fighting agent by improving its solubility through an innovative drug delivery system using β-cyclodextrin. This approach allowed us to achieve a remarkable increase in aqueous dispersion, which led to stronger anticancer effects in both lab tests and studies involving mice.

The results showed significant tumor regression and reduced systemic toxicity. Moreover, markers for tumor presence decreased notably with treatment, highlighting the value of this formulation in enhancing the effectiveness of cancer chemotherapy, particularly for colorectal cancer.

Curcumin shows promise against PIPN
We tested the effects of a dietary curcumin formulation on preventing nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel in mice. Our research showed that while a standard curcumin diet partially helped reduce nerve sensitivity, a specialized formulation called Meriva provided complete protection against nerve damage and inflammation.

The study revealed that Meriva not only prevented hypersensitivity from cold stimuli but also safeguarded nerve function more effectively than the standard diet. Our findings suggest that curcumin, particularly through its interaction with specific receptors, holds substantial promise in mitigating chemotherapy-induced nerve issues.

Good functions. I’m purchasing this product for the second time. I began taking this supplement after chemotherapy, as my finger joints started to swell. The rheumatologist prescribed a treatment course that I couldn’t follow due to liver constraints. A week after starting curcumin, I noticed my joints no longer swelled or ached. Since then, I’ve taken it consistently for three years. I hope my feedback is useful.

Best remedy: Curcumin has an anti-thrombin effect and aids in thinning the blood; thus, it should not be used with low blood clotting or before surgery. Those with gallstones should be cautious, as well as individuals with kidney stones. It is advised to pause curcumin during pregnancy and lactation. Curcumin lowers blood insulin levels, and enhances diabetes medications’ effects. Note that it neutralises toxins and effectively restores the body after chemotherapy, but stop two weeks before and resume two weeks after therapy.

We evaluated the effects of turmeric’s curcumin and its derivatives on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). By using a variety of synthetic compounds, we saw that certain derivatives, particularly TL3, showed strong potential against both TNBC cells and cancer stem-like cells.

Notably, when combined with chemotherapeutic agents such as doxorubicin and cisplatin, TL3 amplified their effectiveness, indicating a promising strategy for enhancing cancer treatment. This study highlights the potential for curcumin in addressing the challenges posed by aggressive tumors.

We explored the effects of a novel surfactant-formulated curcumin on chemotherapy-resistant colorectal cancer. This formulation improved curcumin's water solubility, allowing it to show promising anti-cancer activities in resistant cancer cell lines.

We observed that this specialized curcumin induced cell death and disrupted cancer cell growth cycles effectively. It also appeared to impact immune responses related to gut cancer.

While the findings are encouraging, further research is needed to fully understand curcumin's potential in clinical settings.

Supports chemotherapy
At Oncology, I give my son chemotherapy throughout treatment. Of course, I don’t give it on those days, but between sessions, we’ve been taking it for a year. It’s a wonderful product that helps counteract the impacts of chemotherapy and supports joint health.
