L. reuteri reduces menopause-related bone loss
We investigated the effects of Lactobacillus reuteri on bone health in menopausal mice. Our findings revealed that this probiotic significantly curtails bone loss linked to estrogen deficiency.

Specifically, L. reuteri treatment led to lower levels of bone resorption markers and reduced the factors that promote osteoclast formation, which are responsible for bone deterioration.

These results suggest that L. reuteri not only helps maintain bone density but also positively influences gut health during menopause, showcasing its potential as an accessible method for women to combat post-menopausal bone loss.

Probiotic may stabilize estrogen levels
We examined whether a probiotic containing the strain KABP052 could help stabilize estrogen levels in peri- and postmenopausal women. In a thorough randomized, double-blind study, we compared women taking the probiotic to those given a placebo.

Over 12 weeks, those who received KABP052 showed notably higher estradiol and estrone levels, suggesting that this probiotic can effectively modulate estrogen during menopause. This promising finding opens new avenues for using probiotics to support menopausal health.

We investigated how orally administered probiotics, particularly Lactobacillus rhamnosus, can impact the vaginal flora of postmenopausal women. In a randomized, double-blind study, participants received either probiotic capsules or a placebo for 14 days.

Our findings revealed that 60% of the women taking the probiotics experienced a significant improvement in their vaginal flora, compared to just 16% in the placebo group. This suggests that Lactobacillus rhamnosus may effectively support vaginal health during menopause.

Vaginal burning treatment
26 people found this helpful
I'm cured, and I will take this product forever. This stuff is fantastic! At 66, I started suffering from severe vaginal burning. It felt unbearable. Avoiding doctors, I did some research thinking it might be a yeast infection. Fem-Dophilus was recommended, but it took too long to arrive, so I bought it at Whole Foods. After 10 days of treatment (including vaginal insertion 2x daily for 3 days), I was cured. I will continue using this daily for life to avoid that misery. It’s a safe product with no scary chemicals, but it must be kept cold.

Excellent! I used this for my mother during menopause to help control secretions. Along with evening primrose oil for dry skin and hot flashes, this product significantly reduced secretions. I take two tablets daily after a meal and plan to continue this course. I hope it benefits others as well.

After menopause, I experienced dryness and discomfort around my vagina. Within a week of taking this supplement, the odour vanished, and I felt moisture return. If I forget to take it, the smell reappears, making this supplement essential. It appears I needed the lactic acid bacteria it provides.

Probiotics improve post-menopausal vaginal health
We explored the potential of probiotics to enhance vaginal health in post-menopausal women. Through a clinical trial involving 50 participants aged 45 to 65, we administered a daily probiotic supplement for 28 days.

The results were promising, showing a noteworthy reduction in menopause-related symptoms, including a 50% improvement in vaginal well-being. Remarkably, we also noted significant decreases in inflammatory markers alongside a positive shift in vaginal microbiota, with increased lactobacilli.

Our findings suggest that these specific probiotic strains can effectively support post-menopausal women’s health.

Lactobacillus effective for vaginal health
We evaluated the effects of VagiBIOM, a Lactobacillus-based vaginal suppository, on vaginal health among peri- and premenopausal women facing bacterial vaginosis (BV). In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 66 participants, we measured changes in vaginal pH and health after 4 weeks of treatment.

Results showed significant improvements in vaginal health index scores and reductions in vaginal pH and itching symptoms. Notably, two Lactobacillus species identified in the treatment group indicated enhanced vaginal microbiome diversity. VagiBIOM appears effective in relieving BV-related symptoms in women experiencing menopause.

We explored how Limosilactobacillus reuteri affects bone loss related to menopause by studying its impact in ovariectomized mice. Our research involved a control group and two treatment groups to assess both live and heat-killed forms of this probiotic.

We observed that both forms of L. reuteri significantly improved bone density compared to the untreated ovariectomized group. However, we found no differences in specific gene expressions related to inflammation, indicating that the probiotic's protective effects on bone were independent of these particular pathways.

Overall, L. reuteri showed promise as a potential treatment for managing bone health during menopause.

Femcare is an overseas supplement with small, easy-to-take capsules. I read that it reduces the smell of vaginal discharge post-menopause. After taking it, I was pleased to find the odour disappeared. Once I stopped, the smell returned, so now I take it continuously. I suspect I won’t see further benefits until my intestinal health improves.

Lactobacillus may alleviate GSM symptoms
We investigated how vaginal microbiota, particularly the presence of Lactobacillus, relates to the symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) in women. In a study of 96 women, we analyzed their vaginal microbiomes and explored the effects of Lactobacillus capsules on GSM symptoms.

Our findings suggest that imbalances in vaginal bacteria could play a role in GSM, especially regarding genital and sexual symptoms. We believe Lactobacillus may offer a non-hormonal treatment option for those experiencing such symptoms during menopause.

Lactobacillus and bone health study
We are investigating how lactobacillus strains impact bone health in early postmenopausal women. In a carefully designed double-blind, randomized controlled trial, 124 participants will receive daily doses of either probiotics or a placebo over a 12-month period.

Our main focus is on changes in bone mineral density and the structure of bone. While previous animal studies have shown promise, it's crucial to see if these benefits hold true in humans. We hope to shed light on the potential of probiotics as a strategy to safeguard against osteoporosis.
