We observed an interesting case involving a 1-month-old infant with significant bruising and severe vitamin K deficiency. This deficiency led to spontaneous thymic hemorrhage, which was identified along with coagulopathy during medical evaluation.

The child had not received vitamin K prophylaxis at birth, which likely contributed to the outcomes we saw. Fortunately, after administering vitamin K, the coagulopathy improved. This case highlights the essential role of vitamin K in preventing serious bleeding issues in infants.

Vitamin K improves coagulation and bruising
The report focused on a 4-year-old girl suffering from spontaneous bruising due to vitamin K deficiency linked to celiac disease. After receiving intravenous vitamin K for three days, her coagulation tests returned to normal, and the bruising began to fade.

This treatment was essential alongside her gluten-free diet, which helped in her full recovery. The study illustrates the significant role vitamin K plays in managing bruising, particularly in patients with conditions that affect its absorption.

Vitamin K gel accelerates bruise resolution
We conducted a well-structured study to evaluate the effectiveness of a topical vitamin K oxide gel in speeding up the healing of facial bruises caused by cosmetic laser treatments. In our double-blinded, placebo-controlled study, twenty volunteers applied either the vitamin K gel or a placebo on each side of their face for nine days.

The results showed that the vitamin K gel did help speed up the resolution of bruising compared to the placebo. This suggests it could be beneficial not just for laser-induced bruises, but also for other cosmetic procedures.

We set out to understand how vitamin K1 could impact healing on full-thickness wounds in rats. Using a model that created such wounds, we applied vitamin K cream in different concentrations daily. The results were promising: wounds treated with vitamin K showed significant improvements in healing, including faster contraction and better skin re-growth compared to a control group. This suggests that vitamin K could be beneficial for wound healing, although further research is needed to confirm its effectiveness in humans.

We examined the Atrial Fibrillation Better Care (ABC) pathway in a cohort of patients in Iran. Over the study's duration, adherence to the ABC strategy improved management significantly.

Notably, the incidence of skin bruising dropped from 1.2% to 0% after implementing the pathway. This indicates a positive impact on patient outcomes, including fewer strokes and heart failure instances, highlighting the ABC pathway's potential effectiveness in managing atrial fibrillation.

Faster healing time

This product covers all bases by containing two forms of vitamin K2 and one form of K1, amidst the debate over which type is better. The softgel capsules are small and easy to take. While the taste is not great, the noticeable benefit for me is that bruises heal faster, which is significant as I have sensitive skin. I plan to take it for a month and then evaluate its ongoing effects.

We explored the effectiveness of various topical treatments, including vitamin K, in speeding up the healing of bruises. In a careful trial involving healthy volunteers, we created bruises using a laser and treated them with different ointments.

While topical 20% arnica showed promising results, reducing bruising more effectively than a placebo and lower-strength vitamin K formulations, the 5% vitamin K cream did match the effects of arnica.

We found that arnica stands out for its bruise-healing properties, but vitamin K doesn't seem to help as significantly compared to stronger alternatives.
