The proof is in the pudding:
I was diagnosed with iron deficient anemia from being a frequent blood donor. I'm a 41 year old male and was donating every 8 weeks for over a year. I'm upset with the local blood center, because there is nothing in their literature or on their website about supplementing with iron if you are a frequent donor. Nothing was ever said to me by any of their staff either. If you look at the Red Cross website, you can easily find their recommendation for supplementing with iron if you are a frequent donor. This caused my iron and ferritin levels to deplete over time. Without iron supplementation, people cannot replenish their iron stores within 8 weeks. No matter how much iron we get from food, we can only absorb so much per day. I had been eating plenty of iron rich foods every day. I didn't even realize my iron was so low until the last time I donated, and they told me my hemoglobin was too low. After researching the issue, I got my blood tested: Hemoglobin (12.6-17.7) Low 11.8 Hematocrit (37.5-51.0) 39.5 MCV (79-97) Low 76 MCH (26.6-33.0) Low 22.8 MCHC (31.5-35.7) Low 29.9 RDW (12.3-15.4) High 17.3 UIBC (111-343) High 351 Iron, Serum (38-169) Low 22 Iron Saturation (15-55) Alert Low 6 Ferritin, Serem (30-400) Low 8 I was feeling like crap: low energy, lethargic, would tire easily from exercise etc. I did as much research as I could on the issue, and wanted to get my iron levels back to normal as quickly as possible. There are a lot of different iron supplements on the market, and some forms of iron are better absorbed than others. Several types of iron have negative side effects like constipation, nausea, and other stomach issues. I read a lot of the reviews on here and decided that Blood Builder was my best shot at a quick recovery. I took Blood Builder twice a day, and made sure to eat beef at least once a day. I got my blood tested again after 3 weeks to see my progress and here are the results: Hemoglobin (12.6-17.7) 14.6 Hematocrit (37.5-51.0) 47.8 MCV (79-97) 82 MCH (26.6-33.0) Low 25.0 MCHC (31.5-35.7) Low 30.5 RDW (12.3-15.4) High 23.3 UIBC (111-343) 282 Iron, Serum (38-169) Low 34 Iron Saturation (15-55) Low 11 Ferritin, Serem (30-400) Low 27 I'm not out of the woods yet, but this looks like great progress to me for only 3 weeks using Blood Builder. My Doctor agreed. UPDATE: Here are my labs after 8 weeks: Hemoglobin 17.2 (12.6-17.7) Hematocrit 52.6 (37.5-51.0) Iron, Serum 101 (38-169) Iron Saturation 34 (15-55) Ferritin, Serum 37 (30-400
